“Disgraceful Quality”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Tobyboy on 14/03/2013

We bought a new Bovis house approximately two years ago and during this period we have experienced in excess of sixty faults. Many of these faults were serious in nature and some endangered the safety and well-being of my family and I.

Bovis quite often ignored faults when they were reported and I had to report the company to the NHBC before action was taken. Bovis staff attempted to mislead me on several occasions and di all they could to deter me from reporting faults.

If Bovis ensured that their houses were fit for purpose before selling to customers they would increase profits significantly.

I live on quite a large estate and there are repair vans on the estate every day. We anticipated experiencing a couple of 'snags' when we moved into the house, however, every single room in the house (including hallways, stairway and boiler etc) and also the front and rear gardens, windows and roof have had faults.

I would not recommend this company to anyone.

We purchased a home from Bovis in 2009.
We have had a whole list of complaints:-
1) Broken front door lock, door replaced by bovis.
2) Water leak between flooring, bovis repaired.
3) 2nd water leak through house from top floor, bad connection by Bovis plumbers. Had to claim off our insurance for re:decoration & new carpets.
4) Recessed lighting in bathroom & kitchen. Burnt out transformers, replaced at our cost.
5) Explosion in kitchen floor. After having the NHBC out, they decided that it was not structural, but bad workmanship on Bovis's part. They had not left expansion joints between tiles, the floor had not been "primed" before the tiles were layer, and the tiles had been laid on concrete dust, so were not stuck to floor in places. We also have a very bad concrete split in the kitchen floor which will have to be seen too before re:tiling. Quote to repair £4000, the insurance will not pay for this, and Bovis are not interested.
 If this dose not put you off buying a Bovis home you must have money to waste.
