We purchased in sept 2013 after waiting months for it to be built.
Now the excitement of a new home is no longer excitement but nothing but a pain, inconvenience and just a disruption to life.
Be prepared to argue because if they can talk you out of the fact you have any issue they will.
I'm just going to list my problems and let you decide:
Kitchen extras purchased. On demo it was noticed that my American f/f would not fit in the gap and units where cut down to fit a standard integrated f/f which I hate. Measurement on plans where wrong.
Heating wired back to front wrong. No wonder I couldn't work it.
Showers: one scalding hot, one freezing. Thermostats on back to front.
Leak in the dining room ceiling on Christmas Day. It took till feb for them to find the issue which was the trickle vents/damp course was directing the water into the property and not out. Brick work had to come out, could not use back doors as blocked in by scaffolding, windows scratched and damaged. Ceiling has to come down on the 27/03 as it's the earliest they can do it. They tried to say it wasn't wet lol. Then decorators after I've cleaned up the mess again I suppose.
Drive - awaiting it I be re-topped as it's sagging been told lots of dates.
Leak from ensuite shower into the lounge. Banisters not fix and loose.
Paint work and finish is appalling. I have lumps, screws and alsorts sticking out but to top it all off a mobile number scratched Into the board in the living room as just painted over. Absolutely disgraceful. I have had to stay home on numerous occasions to let people in to complete or rectify works. 6 Month on I still have problems. Now a privacy issue as the houses out the back are a lot higher than my own. I am hoping that they are going to raise the fence as we see the whole length of a person when in there garden and into there house as with them and us. They do eventually rectify or fix when you complain but you can't be soft with them because they hope many people don't know what they talking about. I have had arguments about issues to be told it's ok they get fixed but They don't understand the upheaval,inconvenience and how much it's costs to stay off work for their errors. Just don't bother or if you do buy one visit each week for an update and hound the hell out of them to make sure they doing a good job after all sales will pester you for money.
