“good all-rounder”

★★★★★

written by Kimm742 on 23/11/2014

Son has got these on his SV650s, and I now have them on my Kwak ZR7. They are at the less-pricey end of the tyre range, but they nonetheless do everything we want of them. Grip is good, handling is good, turning and cornering is light and fast, and they are noticeably quiter than the Battlaxs that they have replaced. Too early to comment on accurately on life/wear, but initial prognosis is favourable. I dare say that if you're out on your R6 and detemined to touch the handlebars down you'll go for something sportier, but for everyday riding with a bit of exubarance thrown in here and there we reckon they're excellent.

“BAD TIRE! ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by McMillan103 on 07/09/2014

I bought a set of these for my XR650L; have a little over 2500 miles on them and the rear tire is out of round. It is worn more on one half of the tire than the other! Edge of the tires seem to wear fine but half of the center of the tire wore down to bald while the other half is still 1/2 tread. I will never buy another Continental tire again! The tires did not wash out as bad as knobbies but still do not hold as well as I expected.

““Good, I'm Happy - That's all that matters””

written by tofiz on 11/11/2013

Bought a K4 GSXR 600 to do track days with and it came with slicks on it from the previous owner. I am not a fast rider and a novice at track days so I didn't want to use the slicks as I would not keep the heat in them. I got a set of these Contimotions (180x55 rear & 120x70 front) and I have done my first track day on them. For a slowish rider on track, these rubbers are fine. They did not give me one issue in 5x20 min sessions with 40 min breaks in between each session. They were consistent and predictable and gave (me) a good feeling of what was going on. The day was cold (15 degrees C) and it had rained in the morning. As the tires were new, I sat the first session out because the track was still a bit wet/damp. Another 40 minutes of cars running around, sun and breeze and the track was dry (yipeee). By the days end the tires had those little balls all over (apart from the 5mm strip at each side that didn't touch the ground) with even ware and no visible deformations anywhere. Started the day with 34 PSI rear & 30 PSI front (cold) and only adjusted for the last session (to be safe). Haven't used these tires on the road but would have no hesitation in doing so or recommending these tires to anyone willing to try them. After my experience and reading other reviews, I think these Contimotion tires would suit most riders in most conditions. It would only be those riders pushing a tires limits that would come unstuck and that would be on any rubber anyway because they would stop pushing otherwise.

“Stick like glue!”

Amazed. I've had tyres that have been twice the price, haven't stuck so well and have lasted half as long. Even in the wet they inspire confidence. Slapped them to my srad gsxr600 on a whim since I was impressed by my pushbike conti gator tyres n how they stuck in the rain. Put 'em on your midweight sports! certainly

“Superb Tire for the money”

★★★★★

written by Pete9501 on 16/07/2013

Came fitted new to the bike from a dealer probably due to the price. 2000 miles later and they have gripped in all UK weathers from a dreaful wet cold winter (2013) to scorchy hot summer as I commute all year round. A really good match for my SV650 and will be replacing like for like when they wear out but no signs of that yet so expecting +5000 miles from the rear.

“Very good budget tyre”

★★★★☆

written by stevierst on 14/07/2013

I was another one a bit 50/50 at how cheap this tyre was at first, bit I've been gladly suprised! I fitted the rear contimotion tyre after my PR3 wore out after 2.5k, the first 100 mile rideout on my tuned FZ1s, the top layer started to cut up a little, it didn't bother me too much, but quite a few people noticed and were shocked! I would class myself as a fairly quick road rider, and as most, I like to corner quite hard. This tyre has put up with a lot of punishment, and in the 3k miles I've covered, I've only noticed the rear twitch twice! That's good odds if you ask me. I've scraped the pegs in both sides, and there are no chicken strips left (this is a 190 sports/touring tyre!) Wet weather riding is stable and predictable, provoking wheelspin only once when cold, but if you ride hard in the rain your a loon anyway. I'd recommend them, and I will buy a rear again now this one has almost worn out.

“eccezionali per uso stradale sportivo :-)”

★★★★★

written by on 23/04/2013

“$95.00 is way to much”

written by on 26/07/2012

These had to have been thee worse tires i have ever bought. I have an 03 Honda CBR954, it has been reduced to a commuter bike due to fuel prices, but still hit the local canyons when i can. I dont know how anyone could get the mileage they are posting, the front is still good, wear is not the best, in the canyons, i didntpush it to hard just because i was leary of the title "sport touring", but they seemed to handle ok, but as far as mileage, less than a 1000 on the rear, and thats normal riding, no locking up the rear, no burning the tire at stop lights, just 120 miles a day to work and home, average speed 85. i know have a rear tire with a nice mettalic strip down the middle, as far as a cheap replacement, fine, other than that, spend the extra money for good tires.

Dont let the sport/touring label fool you ..... ive been through 6 sets of these conti motions now and i ride hard and always in the twisties and these tires have never put a foot wrong. had em on my 919 hornet which suffers poor ground clearance but i was always grinding off my peg feelers and having to replace em.... on my SV1000 clearance is way better and within about 30 min of fitting new tires there is no chiken strips.
these tires far out perform there price tag and all but the quickest of road racers. I love them , and no i dont work for a shop or tire company, I simply call it like i see it . Bloody good tires.

“I install a set of Conti Motion on my 09 Yamaha FZ6R...”

★★★★★

written by on 11/05/2011

I install a set of Conti Motion on my 09 Yamaha FZ6R to replace the OEM Bridgetone 021. I have no regrets at all! The 021's always felt a bit "greasy" and the bike never felt planted. I never felt confident with the 021. I put around 3000 miles so far on my Conti-Motion and no complain. Chicken strip are 1/2 of what they use to be! (3/8") right at the end of the thread... Good enough for me!

I will buy those when I'm due for sure! And I will suggest those to all my friends. $250.00 or so with installation... Doesn't get any better then that!

“Usually i would go with a more spec'd tyre like pilot...”

★★★★★

written by on 07/01/2011

Usually i would go with a more spec'd tyre like pilot road 2ct or similar but due to budget restraints this time round i thought id try the conti motions .... thank god for my tight budget because these tyres are awesome . I was not expecting the level of grip i got with these budget tyres , but soon after they were scrubbed in i got to test them out on a fav piece of road with lots of tight bends and some fast straights and all i can say is WoW are you sure these are budget tyres?? These feel better, as in a much nicer ride than the pilots and grip wise they are right up there with them as well ..... not only up there but IMHO they exceed the pilot roads in feel grip and handling. Unless your on a track you just cant get a better bang for your buck than these conti motion tyres. Chiken strip.... what chicken strip.... there aint one .... No Sh!t within an hour or so of scrubbing these tyres in i was was feeling so confidant and comfortable with these tyres i just said stuff it lets really try these tyres out . First i went round a roundabout a couple of times with my knee firmly planted on the road, not a sign of slip or anything else so it was time to hit my fave piece of twisty .... About 30km of tight bends , never had a hicup or even a slight momment at all and i was knee down on all but a few bends. These tyres are fricken awesome .... i wont be buying anymore pilot roads or even the pilot powers.... Simple fact is these budget conti motions feel great, handle great and so far have been wearing very well, i have about 2200km on them and they are wearing very evenly. I do ride quite hard a lot of the time , but i feel right at home on these tyres and have already brought anotherset to go on when these ones wear out. I dont really ride much in the rain so i cant comment on the wet weather traction, but the dry grip is awesome and right up there with some of the so called premium tyres. Im a convert and im not going back to the more expencive tyres, why spend more than this ??? These tyres do everything iv'e asked of them and in great style and have never given me a momments worry. Conti Motion tyres have a big thumbs up from me , I always thought budget tyres would give me budget grip.... how wrong have i been. For anyone thinking about trying there conti motion tyres , all i can say is GO 4 IT .... their right at home touring or scratching. Im seriously thinking of taking these on a trackday and really giving them a workout, after i have i will come back and post a wee review on my findings.... be carefull out there .

Bigarsebear's Comment

Written on: 14/08/2012

I finally done a trackday on a new set of these conti's ..... after 2 laps of warm up i was giving them hell .... i wasnt expecting them to be as good as they were . I was riding in the advanced group and only got passed by one bike and that was down the back straight ..... his gsxr1000 had a way better top speed than my SV1000 but i was hard on his butt in the corners . I found that as the day wore on and the temps rose higher the tires got a bit slippy and i had to be careful exiting some corners as my bike wanted to get sideways on me . You have to remember these are not really trackday tires so in that respect they done great. For your better than average road rider these things wont put you wrong , lots of peg scraping action to be had , and they feel really planted. Only downside i found was that i tend to be wearing out the sides of the tire before the center is anywhere near done ...... just think its the nature of the roads here in New Zealand.

“I want to go on record saying that I was one of those...”

★★★★★

written by on 15/09/2010

I want to go on record saying that I was one of those pilot power and nothing else kinda guys. But when money was tight last time I figured I would give it a shot. I bought a set if these for my gsxr 1000 and I love them. They stick really good in corners. While drag racing the back tire has great traction. Although a little noisy at highway speeds. I consider these tires a great deal for the 250 dollars I paid.

These tyres are good value, but as most good value things there is a down side. Life or mileage. Wet grip is great, dry grip is even better. Although 1 trackday and they would prob have had it. Ive got a choice of my next tyres. Michelin pilot road 2,avon stormst or angel pirelli st. Im kinda stuck. dont want bridestone. My bike is 52 zx636. Any help would be great!!

“Dubious about Continentals after poor performance of...”

★★★★★

written by CB1300slingman on 21/04/2009

Dubious about Continentals after poor performance of road attacks with my 1200 Bandit, but since the price of bridgestone 021's went through the roof I thought another go with these new Conti Motions for my Honda CB1300 which were a whole £45 cheaper than the 021's were in order. 1st impressions were good with virtually none of the teflon type release compound evident on the tyres, and in the hand the tyres felt more flexible than the bridgestones which do have a firm feel. I was still dubious that my big CB13 would rip these puppies to death in 2k miles like it did with Dunlop Roadsmarts..so a pair fitted and did the usual quiet first 70 miles to scrub them in and had no moments at all and everything was fine. The scrubbing in was done in wet weather and "washed" the tyre off nicely before the first dry day for ages, so time for a 80% scratch around the Forest Of Dean, the tyre behaved brilliantly and gave me great feel, better than the Dunlop Roadsmarts, and around the same grip levels. The tyre was noticeably hotter (which is good) than i have noticed before with other makes and at this time I would say with the much better feel of the road and the same level of grip as the Dunlops I would say the Conti's are better all round. When the big CB gets on the edge of the tyre it gives a little "feel" that you are approaching the limit which the Dunlop didnt and I personnally liked that although the Dunlop never did anything it shouldnt! Done 1200 miles now and the tyre is now in my mind a great Sport Touring tyre which as long as it does the minimum of 3.5k which I feel should be the minimum for a ST tyre then I will be a happy bunny.
