This is an atrocious company. My son had bike insurance with them, which he tried to cancel a year ago. Despite several letter and phone calls asking for a cancellation, they renewed the policy and continued taking payments. Eventually, because they just did not respond to letters/calls, we stopped the payments at our bank - this prompted some action, the policy was cancelled (yay) but then we received a debt collection letter for an outstanding amount of £30. Two days later we received another letter, where the amount had ballooned to £66 (!) By this point I just wanted to get the whole thing over with, so I made a payment by BACS, thinking that was a safe option and at east we wouldn't have to deal with MCE anymore (I was pretty sure if I sent a cheque they'd lose it.) How wrong I was - this is MCE after all. Now, even though my bank Barclays have confirmed that the payment has been made into an MCE account (the one whose details they gave me), they are still saying that they have not received the payment. I've received another debt collection letter, this time with a further added fee (!) One of the most incompetent companies I've had the misfortune to encounter EVER. Do not use them. If you are already using them, document everything, I'm sorry to say that you will probably need it.
