“Might be ok in summer but hell in winter”

★☆☆☆☆

written by KimMCal on 03/12/2023

After attending North Weald airfield today for my grandsons super car driving experience, it has been one hell of a day. No facilities there at all except for a tea and coffee shed. Hundreds of people all with their kids, it was pouring and no shelter except a tiny tarpaulin. You’re asked to arrive half an hour early and each car, sadly we had 3 to wait forand it can be up to half hour between each. Hundreds of people just standing in the rain with their kids waiting for the kids names to be called. No idea given when your kids name might be next you just have to wait. Afterwards waiting for them to check the photos and video taken is interminable. Again no queues just a throng of people waiting for 2 people to check their photos. Hours of waiting in the cold and rain for what actually takes about 15 minutes. Dreadfully organised so be warned.

“Do not buy as a gift”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 15Shelton on 01/11/2023

If you want to buy the gift of a driving or track day experience for a friend or family member, do not buy one with Everyman, whether directly or via the likes of Red Letter Days. The person receiving the gift will be stiffed to spend as much as the gift again on “upgrades” just to use the voucher and if you get overcharged for their “upgrades” will find it near impossible to get a refund out of them. For clarity, such “upgrades” are not really upgrades, but rather for such things as the convenience of choosing a nearby location and day. As a gift, it’s terrible.

“Don’t waste your time or money. ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Ribaone on 19/08/2023

Don’t waste your money or your time. Horrific organisation, huge delays despite arriving in plenty of time, no seating (having stood for so many hours because of their delays you’d think they’d bring refreshments and offer somewhere to sit). Hundreds of people getting angrier and angrier, dozens turned away, told to rebook, or refunded. We had no choice as was a gift experience, having paid for the upgrades, abysmal photo package (did better with my mobile) and insurance. Do not book your experience at Prestwold. I expect this comment will be deleted. Shameful, embarrassing, avoidable and utterly, utterly disappointing. My son spent 10 months looking forward to today. Gutted for him. Edit: A quick google has also demonstrated they knew in advance they would be short staffed and tried to recruit randoms with no vetting or requirements other than a driving licence. I am shocked and angry.

“Awful”

★☆☆☆☆

written by joebryan86 on 22/11/2022

Shocking Company, spent hundreds with them over the years. Call to book a race day for my son realise the date was wrong so instantly tried to cancel, the girl said no problem I'll get a refund 11 days later nothing, called back they said oh yeah no problem but we'll call you back that never happened either, called again and spoke to a very rude lady who now said the cancelation would cost £25. There are other companies doing events like this with far better customer service, avoid these

“Appaling”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ChrisDimmick on 05/08/2022

Sometimes it is so necessary to give an honest review and to explain why it is so bad in a clear fashion. Everyman racing has a great concept and the idea is great but for me it is so flawed. Firstly the cars are shabby. As a certified petrol head the cars are in awful condition. For Example the Aston Martin DB9 is marked and not at all clean unless it was with a bag of rocks and had milky headlights clearly showing they are unloved. The Porsche Turbo which could be no older than 2013 was noisy and for want of a better expression shagged out with marks and milky headlights. The Ferrari F430’s which finished production in 2010 all the wheel caps were missing as well as one with the iconic badge missing. Sorry I didn’t pay for a used car fest of such poor quality. The day is massively overbooked not too much maths and you would clearly understand a lot of money is to be made but be prepared to wait. The toilets provided were disgusting the food and drink laughable so all around you get the feeling of corners being cut. The staff are overrun and like headless chickens. It wouldn’t take much to control this properly !! As for the actual ride, my great nephew who is 8 wanted a high speed ride in a Ferrari ok that happened. But the person in me couldn’t overlook the day and cars shortcomings. As skillfully sold we paid for a photo card with video. Well that didn’t work, to be honest don’t bother we got home with an excited little boy wanting to see his video only to be left with a blank disk as clearly the driver in his haste neglected to press record. Now for the complaint originally raised 16th July now we are in August still unresolved. Every reply comes back with a company SLA of 7-10 days not sure whether that means when all staff are not on holiday. So overall if I could vote lower than 1 then I would. The day was appalling and poorly run. the company has no idea of customer care or how to achieve it.

“Shocking”

★☆☆☆☆

written by AronFletcher238 on 05/06/2022

We did the drift experience at goodwood which was absolutely terrible I could have done better in a car park. It is just a square no corners and it’s so wet the car doesn’t get any traction. The car looked like it had come out of a scrap yard with bits of rust hanging off the wheel arches. Complete waste of money and wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

“Rip off and shambles”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Maconthemove on 13/10/2021

I only have one word that I can use - Shambles!!! What a completely disorganised event and got to be honest was a terrible experience. The fact we were charged for 'a dream of an experience' is an absolute ripoff. We arrived at 10:45 and left six hours later. No organisation, cars not in the great condition or even safe and customer service of the staff was disgraceful. On top of that facilities not ideal as left with no shelter from the rain. We were left frustrated, cold and wet and worst of all the ‘absolute dream of an experience’ was a complete disgrace and ’the perfect gift’ that was claimed was actually a disorganised waste of a day and a rip off of £295. I had logged an official complaint and still not had a reply or acceptance. Bitterly disappointed and will never book or recommend to anyone.

“Cancel just 30 before driving and canceled the other...”

written by Fionafififi on 06/10/2021

They cancel my first one. Then 2nd time they phone me half hour before I’m due to drive saying we have to cancel. I’ve emailed them 3 times in the past 2 weeks they completely ignore me. They happy to take my money but since booking they don’t reply.

“Terrible Covid controls”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Andy2021 on 05/11/2020

I attended a driving experience day at Brands Hatch. I would not recommend this experience if you want a business that takes Covid seriously. The controls on the day were abysmal and they did not follow their own policies and procedures in terms of the COVID controls that they said would be in place prior to the event. They did not enforce social distancing controls, they did not clean the car at all between drives, they did not take our temperatures on arrival correctly, their own team did not social distance or follow government guidelines, they did not have COVID controls in place across the venue. When I made a formal complaint in writing after the event they did not take this seriously and acknowledge their complete lack of controls. I would therefore not recommend them at all and feel their complete disregard for this put customers at risk on the day I attended. Very disappointing.

“Avoid this company”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DeclanDowling on 09/12/2017

Be warned before parting with your cash.... It's very interesting to see how many 'terrible' feedbacks this Top Gear track day gets! Avoid booking with them because if it ends up being a bad experience, their complaints customer service is even worse. My awful experience: Hoton track - Top Gear Track Before we started the instructor asked and found out that it was my first time at a race track, my first time driving an R8 car and first time using a paddle geared car, and that I had not had a trial run to get used to the car and track. So knowing this, I would assume a professional instructor would realise that I might struggle to be able to concentrate on his exact instructions, while trying to take on board so many new things. On the first lap the instructor was slightly condescending about some of my questions which was bad enough, but on the second lap he completely lost his temper and started shouting at me whilst I was driving, telling me that I wasn't listening, as if I was deliberately ignoring his instructions. As you can imagine it left me feeling extremely on edge and tense for the remaining two laps. Fortunately, I am sufficiently confident, at the age of 50, not to have been completely overwhelmed at being shouted at when driving a high performance car on a busy track. Whilst I was driving, shortly after he had stopped shouting, I had to tell the instructor he had completely lost control of the situation. Which made him realise he had behaved completely unprofessionally and dangerously. Since then I have tried to to get my a full refund for this terrible experience but all the 'Customer Service' person is offering trying to get me to pay for another day at 30% discount. As if I wanted to spend more money on such an experience. I am now trying to escalate the complaint and wasting more time trying to get my money back. So, beware and explore other companies before parting with your money.

“2.5 HOUR 'standing' wait for cars”

★☆☆☆☆

written by JamesNN on 22/10/2017

Poor organisation - clip boards and crayons to register drivers with no adherence to your allotted time. Spent £300+ on the day and expected better organisation - cars often sat idle without drivers (!) and long queues, so clearly overbooked with little regard for customer satisfaction. Wide variety of driver attitudes - he was more interested in keeping the car below 3,000rpm and a ridiculously high gear (5th! at 60mph!) than allowing any thrills. Nowhere warm to sit and watch - 6 plastic chairs for 100's of people in a tent with no view of the track. Media package video was of poor quality - only 2 of the cars had working audio and speed tracked. Track-side photographs were good as were the 2017 cars we chose. Some of the non-2017 cars looked very tired, so glad we paid the extra. Overall very disappointing with lots of opportunities for the organisers to improve with little effort - just much better management

“Fantastic cars, great location ”

★★★★☆

written by Phillips364 on 07/10/2017

Visited here in September 2017 - a birthday present from my wife - I booked the Platinum experience which was 6 miles in each car. I drove the Lamborghini Aventador and McLaren 570s. On arrival at Dunsfold you park up and take a short minibus ride to the track. You drive round the TopGear test track and runway albeit a different format but still you will recognise places like Gambon etc. When you are waiting to drive it can seem a bit disorganised - it’s important to let the stewards know you are there and they call out your name when it’s your turn. It seemed to be running around 40 minutes late for most people allocated slot. The cars were stunning - new models in perfect condition - very impressive and the instructors encourage you to really put your foot down on the straights! The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is I thought the “passenger rides” which could be booked (single lap) for £10 but this is for a ride in a Vauxhall VXR8 saloon! If you want a passenger ride in the supercar it was £75! Overall however I would recommend this driving experience - worth the cash

“Fantastic Experience”

★★★★★

written by Marshyshark on 02/05/2017

Attended my supercar driving experience at Dunsfold and the venue, cars and staff were all great. Instructors were absolutely fantastic. Everyman Racing did a great job in making my day special. I have read some of the negative feedback regarding the cars and don't think that people understand that these cars are driven hard everyday, all day long, so cosmetic wear and tear can be expected. That said the cars I drove ALL performed extremely well and without fault.

“Awful ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Kathy1966 on 22/11/2016

Everyman racing is a fraudulent company. They sell a racing experience at we'll known tracks when actually it is an old, past it car on a car park or at best airfield. They use the logos and names of the tracks to make you believe they are a track experience when they are far from it. They are very expensive- twice the price of other reputable companies who actually use the track and give you 3 x more track time. Their customer service is also shocking. Awful. Took over six weeks to respond to a complaint. Spend your money wisely. Go elsewhere.

“Awful experience. Everyman racing.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 26/06/2015

If your looking for a driving experience steer well clear of everyman racing.Cannot tell how bad my day was . You feel like cattle the way your hearded from the car park to the check in tent. Then all they want to do is sell you added insurance and films of the day. The check on your driving licence was a joke you could have used anybodys! Then the 0900hrs start turned into twenty past before anybody was interested. My first drive was then halted as the so called health and safety camera would not start. Eventually after 5 mins we started and the car broke down on the first bend . after getting back to the start they tried to fob me off with a lower performance car which i declined. My son who also was supposed to start at 0900hrs had not even been offered a drive at 0955hrs so we left .My advice would be dont bother with this company !!

“Dreadful. Did not deliver experience yet have kept...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 423Joyce on 20/04/2015

I am currently in dialogue with ths company about an expeience day to forget. To cut a long story short I bought a 4 supercar exeience voucher through Virgin for my son. When he came to book the experience they took a further £40 from him for the Top Gear Circuit and for a Saturday. My son heard nothing from them so called to ensure the booking was confirmed. They said it was but my son still received no written confirmation. On arrival he was refused a drive because he did not take his driving license with him. He pleaded with them that he had received nothing from them confirming this requirement. We have written several follow up e mails but received nothing but rebuttals and they are content on keeping close to £200 without a car having turned a wheel. I am pretty sure they are acting unlawfully and without doubt immorally.

“I'm in love with my cars”

★★★★★

written by May185 on 28/09/2014

When I booked it the e-mail informed me that I had to be at the track an hour beforehand for briefing. I left my home in plenty of time and according to google maps, what should have taken 2 hours, ended up taking 3. I arrived at the site a good half an hour later than I attended, thinking that because I'd missed the briefing, I wouldn't be allowed to drive. As it turned out this is obviously a regular occurrence and the staff soon put my fears aside. They just said mention it to the instructor as he's giving you your "pre-flight" brief. Once I'd signed in I made my way over to the designated area where, surprisingly, the instructor called my name out. The first car I was taking out was a Nissan GTR. After I'd strapped myself in I pressed "ignition" and the whole car and the ground seemed to shake. Music to my ears. The instructor explained that it was an automatic and he would have full control of the mirrors. All I had to do was drive and brake when he told me. I took the Nissan out for 3 of the best laps I've ever experienced. After a 10 minute break I took out an Audi G8. This was with a different instructor, but just as friendly. The Audi had a manual gearbox, but as soon as I started it up, I realised it wasn't in the league of the Nissan. I enjoyed my day immensely. If I had one criticism and that's the day wasn't long enough. I could have driven there all day!

“Everyman are appalling, ignorant and uncompassionate”

★☆☆☆☆

written by kezzles26 on 02/07/2014

My father bought a 2 car supercar experience for me as a Christmas Present. When I called to book, as plenty of others have said on tripadvisor, I felt a bit ripped off at having to pay an additional £25 for insurance as you would think that a lot of people buy these as gifts and buying an experience should include the whole experience, you don't expect to have to pay for a "collision waiver" on top of that but you are told its a £5000 excess otherwise, leaving you with little choice but to pay it. I also paid another £20 for a photo package. Entirely my choice of course but just building up the picture here that in total I paid an extra £45 on top of my present, which you are made to pay at the time of booking in and not closer to or on the day of the experience. My Dad unfortunately and unexpectedly passed away in the early hours of the day that I was due to go on my experience, I had only been telling him the day before how much I was looking forward to it. Naturally I couldn't call myself but I still had the forethought to ask my partner to call Everyman for me, still a few hours before I was due in. We were told it could not be swapped and basically tough luck.....not even a hint of "I'm sorry to hear that but...." nothing, absolutely no compassion whatsoever and not allowed to be passed through to speak to anyone higher but given an email address. Also absolutely no mention of the additional £45 I had paid for services that clearly I had not used and were of no additional cost to everyman, not even a partial refund. Now you understand at this point the principle here is not about money, I'd have let it slide albeit unreasonable of everyman not to honour my experience, had I bought it myself or even had it been from anyone else, but my Dad bought me that and I want to fulfil it. The fact that Everyman have been so awful about it the whole way through only adds to my frustration. My partner followed this up via calls and e-mails. She works for a magazine who sell advertising and was looking to resolve this for me and potentially give them some free advertising as a thanks, not that she should have to. But her e-mails went ignored and could never get a straight answer on the phone. After a few weeks, I was finally in an emotional position to be able to attempt to follow this up myself. On 13th May I replied to my original booking confirmation e-mail to the sales/customer service advisor that I had dealt with and explained my dis-satisfaction and the situation, I also attached my Dad's death certificate as proof. Credit where credit is due, I actually got a response....albeit a cold and unsatisfactory one. This is a direct quote: "Hello, Thank you for your email. I have passed this email onto my manager who deals with any issues regarding event days and booking of experiences. As per the terms and conditions, please allow up to 30 days for a response from her." ....as you can see again there is no hint of "I'm sorry for your loss, however this is the process" just cold, hard, I've passed it on, wait 30 days as per our t&c's......so I did. On the 30th day, I replied explaining that I still hadn't got a response and also that I had read the t&c's where yes it does say that complaints will be responded to in 30 days but it does not explain how to escalate a complaint beyond that should the company not be able to adhere to its own policy. I did not receive a response to this particular email until 18 days (48 days since my complaint) which was still not a response from the mysterious manager whose name and contact details they won't give me but just another sorry we've not replied yet as directly quoted here: " So sorry for the delayed response. I have spoken with my manager and unfortunately due to being on annual leave recently she is behind with responding to complaints. I have chased this email up with her and she has advised you will receive a response before the end of tomorrow." .....They must have a lot of complaints to have such a back-log, or she was on a lot of annual leave?! Needless to say the 'end of tomorrow' was yesterday and I still don't have a response. I've also tried to call 4 times today and I can't get through. I think I've given ample time and opportunity before posting such a bad rating on here, if I could give a minus rating I would. Steer well clear!

Eileencarr's Response to kezzles26's Review

Written on: 26/08/2023

I bought an experience for my partner to try the Goodwood track in a Nissan GTR. When we arrived there was a bit of a queue but it went down quickly. Slightly over-ran on his 11.30 start time but I imagine its the nature of waiting for people to come off the track who are doing different speeds and have capabilities. Bought a tea cost £2.50m, coffee £3.50 and a flapjack for £3.50 so reasonable for nowadays! The driving instructor was a man called 'Lou' (we think)...he was great, friendly, competent and encouraging. My partner had a great time and decided to have a spin in the Atom....he was so glad he did! One of the best experiences ever and the Goodwood rack was iconic and awesome to drive around. He was even lucky with the weather staying sunny until the afternoon! Thanks for great memories.
