I don't usually believe the reviews I see but my recent experience with Woolwich proved that people on here were right, they're shambles. Applied for a mortgage and it took over 8 weeks for them to come up with queries. I have a 100 percent credit history and have been a Barclays customer for years. My mortgage brokers were chasing them non-stop and Woolwich never got back to them, they requested 1 piece of information at a time and took weeks processing it until chased up again. They refused me a mortgage with no reason for that and the whole process wasted me over 3 months. Devastated and stressed out. They also boost their rating by writing fake positive reviews. Beware. If you don't believe me, see how many people here they let down compared to a handful of positive reviews written by themselves.

I have had exactly the same experience having gone through over two months of hours and hours of phone calls and repeated journeys to a local branch,of being passed from person to person, individual pieces of paperwork requested at a time and strange questions asked. I already have a mortgage with them and thought it would be better to stay. The new mortgage would be lower, I have never missed a payment and have excellent credit score. However, they have now turned me down and I'm supposed to move in 4 weeks. Thanks a lot! All accounts with Barclays will now be closed as they are a shambles.
