“ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by JaseHarrison214 on 15/06/2015

Well where do I start...

The 25th may 2015 we had a appointment with a mortgage broker and we decided to get a mortgage with Santander for a 95% mortgage.. We was told we needed 3 months pay slips and 3 months bank statements.. All these documents were sent through..
My partner had 2 weeks payslips missing as he was off work unpaid due to personal issues, he then got a letter from his manager with the explanation for this.

So then the broker said this will be fine.. 4 days later we receive a update from Santander that we need a payslip for when my partner will next be payed... We then had to wait for his payslip to be issued and then send it in... 3 days later we sent the payslip in, we were then told by our broker they are working on a 3-4 day waiting time... AND THERES MORE..
Then they send through a offer of 10000 less than what we needed, this was due to a childcare commitment which was apparently to big of commitment, even though my tax credits covered this and I didn't add my tax credits towards my annual income for my mortgage ( but they were fully informed I receivrd the tax credits as they could see on my bank statements!
Our case is now with the under writers once again.. I am losing the will to live!!! We have found our Dream property and our offer is being accepted! It just seems one thing after another ... Anyone had any experience like this?? And is there a happy ending?

We are in a similar position with Santander. We have passed affordability and have perfect credit scores however when applying for a Dip there was a technical glitch. Their system turned us down even though underwriters and business development manager have checked our application thoroughly and are sure it should pass. They think that their system is duplicating our joint debt as it is on both credit reports and therefore making us look as though we owe twice as much. No one appears to know how to sort this out despite continuous calls by our broker and even sitting in the branch with a manager who tried her best to get it sorted. Our seller has understandably now put the property back on the market and has 5 viewings this weekend so we are almost certainly going to lose our purchase. We even asked if we could apply again in the hope it was just that application but we're told if we did it would damage our credit score and we would be turned down on that basis! We have made a last effort this afternoon to sort this out and Santander are aware that we are going to lose the property, we were told yesterday it would be sorted out by the end of the day, it hasn't happened, no phone calls or updates just sitting in limbo waiting. I find it totally unacceptable that we are going to lose this because they can't make a decision without a computer system and they don't know how their own systems work! Oh and on top of that they had already wiped off 5k because debts that we paid off months ago were not updated on experian, even though we have letters confirming they are paid off. Terrible customer service and unfathomable rules and regulations that they clearly haven't got a clue about themselves!

Im really sorry to hear that! It's terrible service! I would keep getting into your broker and that's disgusting service!!

My case worker got back to me today to say ONCE AGAIN more paper work was needed, they now need in writing what certain direct debits are for... Even tho these have all been explained previously. I personally think the service is a absolute joke! This has been going on for nearly a month now and we are still no closer !

How long has your application been going on for? And when did they tell you no?

It's been going on weeks now waiting for experian to be updated. Then applied for dip on Monday, still haven't heard back so will definitely lose the house. From what I've read though you're not the only one who had dip then have loads of issues getting full application. It's awful playing people's lives like this! It affects everyone in the chain and is totally pointless. They offer you less than what you need so you have to scrape together even more of a deposit which leaves you screwed financially then the actual monthly mortgage payment is only about 30 quid cheaper! It just has no logic whatsoever other than they don't want to lend to people who don't have big deposits. Unfortunately unless you benefit from rich parents or huge salaries it's just not realistic. We can afford the payments, we have perfect credit and good jobs but as usual that's not good enough!
Hope you get sorted, I'm really hating having to deal with banks, they are accountable to no one and most of the people that work there haven't got a clue!
