I have two mortgages with Santander, never missed a payment since the 4 years of having the products.
One would presume that this history with Santander would allow for additional borrowings on one of our mortgages to be a simple and easy process. Think again!!
The beginning of June 2014 we commenced the application process, we had to resubmit proof of earnings (payslips), marriage certificate, and bank statements for both the wife and I. It is now September 1st and we are still yet to have a definitive answer on the application stage, let alone a survey.
Regardless of providing every supporting document requested, they always seem to request more, which as a result makes the process painstakingly slow. It also doesn't help when the designated adviser dealing with your case goes on holiday and no handover is given for an alternative point of contact to deal with!
I am now in the process of looking for alternative mortgage providers as I truly feel that Santander lack competence, and quality customer service.
Yes they offer competitive rates, but dreadful to deal with should you require any sort of service.
