I had a morgage with Santander and understood that I could carry my morgage over from my previous property which appears to be straight forward procedure . This is not the case. It is a competely new morgage . I had to wait for two months and I was accepted then shortly afterwards the morgage was declined . Santander have kept £3000 of my money as an early repayment fee even thougth I was borrying slightly less and my credit history was fine.
If they do this with many customers it is a tremendous way to make money at the expense of their customers. Generally it is an unprofessional setup and it leaves one in a position of immense frustration as £3000 is a great deal of money to lose with no redress
