“most horrible lender”

Written on: 23/04/2012

This bank having my mortgage (together mortgage northern rock)are the most unhelpful and neglectful people you will ever deal with. I find myself in financial hardship and have asked NRAM way back November 2011 if I could pay my interest only until Sept 2012, was asking for some flexibility and some empathy on my current situation. Having been pushed from department to department, being being advised to take a repayment holiday whilst someone looks at my request, having written asking for clarity because no one seemed able to deal with it and no one calling me back, I then got letters telling me that I needed to pay, called again and spoke with Head department having been pushed to 4 different departments and spending 47 mins on the phone, Head Department told me to cancel my direct debit. I then recieved mail informing me that I had cancelled my direct debit and will be charged £10 and further charges will follow if NRAM cannot collect my payments. I contacted NRAM again and was told someone will call, no decision has been made. I then recieved a letter asking for 3 months Bank statements, I completed a financial assessment on Feb2012. still no calls and correspondance from NRAM March 2012, I have to date called NRAM 14 times, emailed customer services, written 2 letters to try and get some clarity and help. Today 21 April I called NRAM and have been told that I have to pay my full Mortgage amount, they believe that I have to cut back on some things like hairdressers for my wife and children and mobile phones, it was even sugested that my boys boxing club fees were something that could be cut back on. they asked me if I wanted to expand my Mortgage to 25 yrs to help with the repayments dropping, I retire in 11 yrs...what an option! I now find myself 2 months in arrears and in a worse situation than previous when first contacted and asked for help...NRAM dos'nt do what it says in the tin and they are totally horrible to deal with. I find myself totally at a loss with this Bank.

I completely agree we have had nothing but issues with NRAM in trying to contact them and resolve issues. I suggest you make an official complaint via email and if not resolved refer to the F.O.S
