I recently read on the Nationwide Mortgage site that they aim to respond to any mortgage applications within 48 hours - do they not realise the stress they cause by not approving mortgage applications - nearly two weeks later I am having to push them for an answer (second time) - they received all my paperwork as a first time buyer (8 weeks ago) and then asked for a structural engineer to come and see the property - he then sent them the report and then they asked for a builder to give a quote to do small repairs - in all of this time I do not know what value they have put on the property, had to pay for the structural engineer and still do not know if my mortgage application has been approved - how long will the seller wait for me (or not me as the case may be)and will I loose my dream home because it is sitting on someone's desk somewhere

Hi, I could have written this myself only I’m yet to submit report. Ridiculous unwilling to advise if they are prepared to lend or not! Hope you’ve got answers wanted!
