i contacted other companies but they required a non returnable fee. I contacted AP and explained I would only be interested in a company offering Early Repayment. The phone operative confirmed that would be possible. The home consultant came and as soon as I explained my requirements his body language said it all and he said he should have been told as this was not something they do. He said he would investigate though and I spent an hour giving all my private details to him. I then waited a month hearing nothing, so I called. The consultant called me and said they could do nothing. What a waste of my time. Rubbish service.

I asked for their equity release guide last year since when they've been bombarding me regularly with the latest and greatest offers. 10 days ago I asked them a question via their contact form, which I really need answered, and there's been no response, nothing, zilch, and yes I did type in my phone number correctly. I guess it was too difficult for them.

I [stupidly] trusted this crowd when I took out an Annuity a year ago. I had considered (as they state in adverts) that I was getting advice, but NO, when it came to the Ombudsman being involved in a complaint I had made, I found out they (Age Partnership) do NOT give advice, they do what is NEVER mentioned and that is an "Execution Only" arrangement of you Annuity. You make the choice (of which a lifetime Annuity was the only thing being offered). Yes, I should have known better and yes I am to blame to not checking , double checking and triple checking the wording for something as simple as an Annuity, which you know all about as you grow up - I DON'T THINK! My advice is STEER WELL CLEAR!

I too read all the glowing references about this company, but my personal experience has been far from glowing. I approached them with a view to release equity on my home, and at first they were all sounding very efficient, and calling at very regular intervals, to explain the next stage of the process. However as the process progressed, at an extremely slow pace the calls ceased to happen, and I found myself being promised calls, that never materialised, and promises that were not kept. I was told at the outset that the whole process would take six weeks, well I am now on the tenth week and still no light at the end of the tunnel. I get calls from someone at age partnership asking how things are going, who then promises to chase up the problems, but surprise surprise nothing happens, and he does not seem to understand that telling someone you will ring them back, means simply that you ring them back. I could go on but suffice to say to anyone contemplating using Age Partnership, find a company that does care about its clients.

I am coming up to retirement shortly and having looked at the reviews on this site I thought I would give Age Partnership a try. I have made endless calls to Age Partnership to try to get the process started but each time they promise to ring me back but they never do. I am sick and tired of waiting for telephone calls which do not happen. I cannot get off the starting blocks no matter how hard I try. I cannot understand why everybody else has posted such good reviews when I have found them impossible to deal with.

I took out the maximum draw-down mortgage and was very pleased with the service until I tried stopping the junk mail offering me further draw down deals which I can't do because I have had the maximum monies possible. I have phoned, emailed and returned the junk but they keep on sending it, which really irritates me. If you read this, please delete my name from your computer.. Dave Gahan NR30 3HJ

We had very good service from Age partnership with just one hitch with the verification of original documents. For decades we have used a minister of religin to do this and at first, it was suggested this was no longer acceptable. After our objection, this was agreed. This was regrettable in view of what is seen by some as an increase in the secularisation of our society. We received all the information we needed to make a sensible decision. This is my 2nd attempt at this review as the first vanished from the scren just as I was finishing. I nearly downgraded it to 3* in this account.

The representative from age partnership worked for me to get the best return for a relatively small pension pot. He was very helpful and I spoke to the same person throughout the whole process. He explained everything in detail and helped with filling in all the relevant forms. I was very pleased with all the help they gave in what was for me quite a complicated process as I was linking two small pension pots together for a better annuity.

The staff that handled our application demonstrated themselves to be young and highly intelligent (graduate calibre) and as a consequence, they were able to communicate the more difficult aspects of any proposal in a way that made it easy to understand. However, I should qualify this by saying that we are also of the level of intelligence that deals with things like spreadsheets and graphs regularly so they did not have any problem communicating to us the critical points of understanding such as redemption fees. The documentation they prepared for us was detailed and complex (as it should be for the nature of the proposal) but written and presented in such as way as to be easily comprehended and they responded quickly to any queries we had. It was not the fault of any one at Age partnership that our first proposal failed because of a surveyor incompetence. Age Partnership were slow off the mark to sort this out and we would have to mark Age Partnership down for this and we feel this was in no small way a reflection of the fact that staff referred to in the opening sentence did not have a lot of commercial experience. Therefore we had to get 'our teeth' into the incompetent surveyors and then to go through Age Partnership complaints procedure. This procedure was handled politely by a member of staff who clearly had got more commercial experience but still we had to be the driving force in pushing the incompetent surveyors to re-issue their report. For what ever reason, they refused to do this, despite being presented with overwhelming evidence that they should do. Therefore, we were left with no choice but to threaten legal action against the people who had paid to do the survey. This was refunded in full and a bit added for our distress. At this point it was back to square one with a new survey, a new proposal which in hindsight, although slightly less money, was more suited to our needs and perhaps should have been suggested by Age Partnership at the start. Our only other criticism was that from that point on, it seemed to be down to the solicitors to communicate to us even to the extent that the transaction was completed and nobody seemed able to inform us when we would actually get the money. Because of the botched survey, the whole process took 6 months and was quite stressful. Age Partnership were embarrassed over the whole fiasco and gave us a quality Christmas hamper. In conclusion, our experience clearly exposed some weakness in the Age Partnership operation but overall, we think they will learn from our experience and we really have no reservations in recommending their service.

Once I had submitted an online query Age Partnership contacted me very quickly. One of their advisors explained everything that I needed to know. I thought about for a few weeks, contacted them again and was painlessly led through each stage until I recieved my cheque. It is a big decision to make but Age Partner made it easier for me to make that decision without having doubts.

Age Partnership were very helpful and "on the other end of the phone" when needed. As a company they were easy to phone always helpful and made it clear on everything that i would be receiving from them. I have purchased a static holiday home with part of my equity so that myself and family can enjoy holidays any time during the year. Thanks once again Age Partnership for all your help! While scouring the net for assistance with our very complicated pension schemes, the phone rang and Age Partnership offered their services without obligation. Although I was rather nervous to begin with I was soon put at my ease by the very friendly and business like way in which the Annuity Specialist took control of the problems. The resulting annuity payments have been more than we could have found for ourselves and we have reason to be very grateful for their thorough expertise.

675093 I was having difficulty converting my SIPP into an annuity until I contacted Age Partnership. With their help I found the best annuity with no hassle, no jargon and no fee. Just a fast, friendly competent service.

Insurance companies give you an annuity quote and then delays in the transfers of sums result in a lower annuity being awarded. This seesm to be par for the course. Age Partnership did their best to minimise this impact where other intermediaries may not, so I would recomment them. Very helpful throughout.

really surprised to read this review - it is 100% opposite to our recent experience with this company. they were extremely professional, ALWAYS called when they said, ALWAYS returned calls, NEVER pestered us - in fact told us to get impartial advice, sent everything that was discussed on the phone in a following letter the next day, so we had it all in front of us, took about 8 weeks, which included Christmas and New Year, from initial enquiry through to getting a cheque from the solicitor who also paid the bank for the mortgage (we took a sum to pay mortgage and give us cash) on the day it was received. I actually think this review is written by a rival!! If there is a delay it will be for a good reason, and NOT the very professional and very helpful staff at Age Partnership. Only looking at reviews as I had just recommended them to someone else, and very surprised to read this!!!

Paulajkl, your the one who sounds like they have a vested interest in A.P. They do bombard people with letters and emails as they are doing it to me now, its almost a daily event that theyve "just got me a better proposal " or kidding me about interest rates etc.
