“Do not use”

★☆☆☆☆

written by warren.chapman on 30/06/2017

Do not use. Sent my iPad to repair broken screen. When I received it back it was not working. Had to send it back. They took six weeks to repair. They never answer phone . They said they would refund postage incurred for sending it back but never did. They rarely answer emails. I considered myself lucky in the end to receive my iPad back at all . TERRIBLE SERVICE

Update : following my reviews Fone angels have refunded me over and above my postage costs. It would have been better if they had responded to my emails and phone calls in the first place though.

“Awful the worst company I have dealt with”

★☆☆☆☆

written by kkAshworth420 on 11/10/2016

Disastrous, awful, no communication, rookies, and no professionalism. 6 weeks late!, made my life hell for the past 6 weeks. They have caused me distress and much agro. Generally I am too busy writing reviews specifically a thorough and negative one for that matter but, I see it absolutely necessary to warn people of what they will be dealing with if they venture into business with FoneAngels. Do not trust the reviews on their website as they can easily be manipulated and changed or left by their friends. My story begins when I cracked my screen and it needed repair. I am an IT professional whom lives by his phone and does everything with it. Without it I am paralysed and cannot do my job or need to carry a laptop and move from WI-FI Spot to WI-FI spot. I searched the web and found them, compared the prices, checked their location, called the building and made sure they had an office there and they have been there long enough. It seems they have been there for more than 16months. I requested the repair by pickup and delivery method. Received the package followed the instruction sent it off to FoneAngels. 2 days later received an email saying that it needed more repair than just a screen and LCD needed changing which would cost extra £70. No problem I paid the amount. I was told that I would receive my phone in 10-15 days’ time. Already I was thinking this is twice as long as other companies so I emailed them back asking why it takes so long and if I can have it back a nearer to 10 days than 15! They said we will do our best. OK no problem, they are a decent company, they will deliver. Meanwhile I purchased a £19.99 Nokia to receive calls and also I had to carry my laptop everywhere with me and search for places with WI-FI so I could use their internet for some small but urgent tasks that I normally do with my phone. I also had a Holiday booked in one month’s time. One week past and I did not receive any update. 10 days passed and no news, this is the time I started regretting sending my phone to Fone Angels, a local shop would have done it much quicker but for £10 more. 15 Days passed and no news, no update, no email, NOTHING. I sent them an email asking for an update of the progress. No response, send them another in 2 days time no response. Send them the third one, NO RESPONSE. I was getting worried now, so I went and searched the email I received from their engineer on progression of fix next day of paying the full £100. This is 21 days ago, sent him an email …No response! … Sent another email to him AGAIN NOTHING! Here I was fuming and yet worried. Sent a strongly worded email as I was about to turn up to their door. Finally he got back to me saying he will chase it and I will have my phone back by end of the week. Did not happen. 2 emails later and no response I called the building, they have no Telephone line but receptionist went to their office and grabbed someone and I calmly explained what has happened for the past 4 weeks and I desperately need my phone back ASAP. I received an email saying that I will have my phone by end of THIS week! Did not happen. Since, I have been contacting them and have not received any response, they have had my phone for the past 6 weeks. I had to go and purchase a temporary smart phone which has cost me £99. Before that I had to move from Coffee shop to coffee shop buying beverages just to use the WI-FI, life has not been easy. I do not know what to do really, I am lost. I have so much data on my phone that I need it back promptly. Also I had to postpone my holiday. I am distressed. Search Twitter for #foneangels. Now after all this if I want my phone returned I have to dish out £14.99 NOR repaired. watch dog needs to be notified. UPDATE: My Phone was returned after 8 weeks with glue sticking out, camera not working and memory card none functional and not being recognised. Small Claims court is in order. I am sick of it!!!

I feel your pain! They have had my ipad and £100 for 90 days and counting. Told me 3 Jan they cannot mend but still no refund or IPAD. Took them 60 days to tell me they couldn't repair. The only crumb of comfort is that I have posted and will continue to post the truth about this company - shocking they take your goods and money with impunity and when you complain to Trading Standards you just get the same answer nothing you can do but go to your bank etc etc

“Refusing refund for work not carried out. No phone...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by caMoore481 on 21/07/2016

Despite chasing over a three month period, Fone Angels are not simply not refunding me for the work not carried out. They keep saying they will but I've had to accept this won't happen and simply report them to Trading Standards. In addition, when I requested a delivery receipt for one of my many emails I received notification from a foreign server. Another thing to be wary of.

“Oh how I wish I had read the reviews first...”

written by FAarenoAngels on 01/06/2016

Was there anything I particularly didn't like about my transaction? Hmmm...This turned out to be a classic Fone Angel encounter for my iPad mini cracked screen repair - "Upsell" on the repair after initial investigation (oh the camera needs replacing), "Parts shortage" that delayed the repair for 2 months (only informed after the suggested additional repair), "glitched on return" (app ghosting); "denied their was a ghosting problem" on re-investigation - took forever to get back a second time; "failed to deliver a promised 25% refund" (tried for 50 but got shot down), plus return of second P&P fee; "failed to reply to emails" without being constantly chased...Oh one thing in fairness and balance, I do have a repaired iPad - though my model has been surpased by several newer versions in the interim period of NOT HAVING ONE TO USE for so long. Still no refund; Fone Angels removed reviews stating I didn't exist as a customer; Reviews naturally re-instated after providing proof of purchase and several extensive email trails...can't call Fone Angels as telephone number is for show, not use. Have so far: - asked nicely for a refund, pestered with repeated emails, either been ignored or politley fobbed off. I have threaten legal action, logged matter with Trading Standards and sent in a sob story to Watchdog. To use Fone Angels, or not to use Fone Angels...your call, but you may end up with FA.

“Failed iPhone5s Repair”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DarrenMThompson on 30/05/2016

Sent my wife's iPhone to Fone Angels for a screen repair. Very quickly got an email saying that on top of the £49.99 repair, they recommended that the button were changed too at an additional £44.99. To be on the safe side I agreed. They had the phone on the 11th March. On the 15th April they finally agreed to return my phone to me unrepaired. This was after numerous emails from me asking for updates and being told that they were waiting for replacement parts to arrive. It is now the 30th May and I still do not have my money back. I took the phone to a local corner shop and got much better service! Do not use them!

“Sent 2 x iphone 5s (both had cracked screens) off...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by JadynBoone410 on 20/01/2016

Sent 2 x iphone 5s (both had cracked screens) off separately on 27/12/15, under different names & email addresses. (same address). When both phones arrived, 2 separate emails on 31/12/15 stating that they had 'identified a potential issue with the following component: * iPhone Dock Connector – The cost of replacing this component is £44.99. We emailed back saying no thank you (phones certainly didn't have any other problems than cracked screens when we sent them! Almost instantly had an email back stating 'As we are concerned about the stability of the part we would like to offer you a discount on this repair. We would be happy to offer the repair at a discounted price of £38.99 on this occasion as a good will gesture'. Again declined their offer. On 6/1/16 had an email stating that the phone had reached stage 3 (of 5 stages) PARTS ALLOCATED. On 19/1/16 had email stating that they had no parts. We have emailed asking for phones to be returned and we will source somewhere else to get them fixed. If only I had read the reviews on this website first. However I read the reviews on their own website, which they have obviously cherry picked to be the few that have been satisfied, or got friends and family to create false 'good reviews'. Shocking service. To date I'm £15 out of pocket for the postage, hoping phones get returned & payment refunded. However I am obviously somewhat sceptical. Whether or not I get the phones back, I am planning a lengthy complaint to Trading Standards in the hope that the more complaints the more chance they have of shutting down this bunch DO NOT TOUCH THEM WITH A BARGE POLE. Hope this saves others of you getting caught up in what we are caught up in! Take your phone to somewhere you can hand phone over personally and collect personally!!! GOOD LUCK :)

“Fone Angels have had my iphone for more than two...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by bikeman123 on 04/01/2016

Fone Angels have had my iphone for more than two months. After sending it to them for a screen repair they claimed that additional work was required which I declined. The more recent contact I had with them was that they had repaired the phone but it needed to go through quality checks - that was 3 weeks ago!  I really do believe I paid them £35 not to fix my screen but to take my phone. Soon I intend to report them.

“DO NOT USE !”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Jordino69 on 16/12/2015

3rd review = Update on previous review - my sorry saga still rolling on with Foneangels. As you will know I eventually received the iPad mini after 6 weeks , but only after I threatened to report it as stolen, I then discovered it was broken. Foneangels will not accept a report from a fully trained Apple technician who looked at the device yesterday and reported that it is unresponsive and unrepairable. They are still asking for the faulty parts to be returned ? The faulty part is now the whole iPad and I am unable to return that as it belongs to my daughter's school. Thankfully they are no longer recommending this company to its pupils, to avoid them having a lot of stress, especially those like my daughter who is right in the middle of her mock GCSE's and without her school issued ipad ! As a last resort, and one I was trying to avoid, I am now in discussion with my credit card issuer to try and recover my money, whilst PayPal consider my appeal now I have an independent report. I’ll then have to purchase another iPad to replace the one that was returned as it now doesn’t work, at all! This is a huge burden in terms of cost AND time, . All I asked for was a refund on the money I had paid well in advance for the repairs. Had the repairs been carried out and the devices fixed properly, I would have left it at that and put the delays down to increased orders and poor customer service, but instead we have this awful, stressful process, and all for the sake of £148.00. I would urge any potential customers to stay away. This has been a very long 3 months with many hours wasted , including an unnecessary trip to an Apple Genius Bar and lots of stress ! At no point have I had an apology other than standard emails asking for the faulty parts back . Avoid at all costs unless you want to find yourself with an enormous headache and you fancy being treated with utter disdain, this is truly the worst level of service I have ever received! 2nd review = Surprised to see how quick the response was to this review ! Shame all enquiries are not met with the same urgency. To clarify , no untruths have been told , when I phoned customer services I was told they couldn't find out any updates and there were no managers based in Customer service for me to talk to. I also emailed complaints and asked for someone to phone me urgently but again ignored. I take great offence to be called a liar. The only untruths that have been told is by the staff at Foneangels in relation to the progress of repairs and despatch dates. 1st review = I am totally exasperated by this company. I sent 3 items to be repaired at the beginning of October. Paid in full and even paid extra for parts they advised me I needed to have. It took 4 weeks to get the phone back , 5 weeks to get the iPad 2 back and Over 6 weeks to get the iPad mini back. The iPad mini does not work at all , the phone screen has already cracked and the button I had replaced on the ipad 2 only works intermittently. Customer services on the phone refused to talk to me as I am not a new customer , and advised there was no way in any circumstance I could get to talk to a customer service manager. The complaints department replied to one of my numerous emails back on 3rd November and this was to advise I would get my device back in a day or two. I didn't receive it and had further emails stating it would be with me in the next day or two, some 16 days later the last item iPad mini was eventually returned to me after I threatened to report it as stolen, then to my horror I realised the screen had been replaced however the screen does not swipe and the top button no longer worked. I have sent in excess of 30 emails , most of which were ignored. No updates via emails or phone calls to advise what was going on and then customer services said they only communicate with customers chasing items via email !! I am now in the process of disputing the costs if all 3 repairs for appalling service and what appears to be faulty parts. I have been asked to return them all under the warranty but as you can imagine have lost all faith in them and do not trust them as a company. Therefore I am now in dispute with them to try and recover my costs so that I can go somewhere else to get the repairs done properly, which is what I wish I had done in the first place. Unless you wish to find yourself without your device for weeks, without any update, and the result in your items being returned with faulty parts , I would avoid this company at all costs.

“Disaster.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by tomunderhill on 30/11/2015

Phone with them for more than a month, received 4 emails giving me extended dates on when the phone would be repaired - along with some words like "my supervisor is now monitoring the repair to make sure it gets done this week". All 4 deadlines were missed, without further communication. When the phone finally did return, the new screen did not work properly. I was not going to risk returning it to them and being without it for another month, so had it repaired locally. But are they going to refund me? No way. I even retained the non-functional screen they had put in, so as to send it back to them to prove that it wasn't working. But no. Looks like I'm down £45 with nothing to show for it. From other reviews online, there seems to be a clear pattern here. DO NOT USE!

“Avoid! ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 371McDaniel on 25/10/2015

They give a timeframe they don't keep then say they never guaranteed a timeframe (in my case 7-10days but I demanded iPad back after a month as it was clear they had no idea how long they would take. They also recommend further work (look at the complaints they all say this is exactly what happened to them). In my case I had my iPad repaired elsewhere and they said no further work was needed! When I got my iPad back it took them a month to refund me and then they withheld some it as they said I had changed my mind so they are allowed to do this. I'm taking them to court. I'm looking forward to a judge telling Foneangels how the Sales and Services Act applies to them. Please do t be lured in by their cheap prices because they will mug you off with additional costs once they've got your device.

“Took 1 month”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Werdnarrek on 20/10/2015

This company took a whole month to mend my iPad screen. They also said I needed a new button £40 even though they had the glass removed anyway. When I asked them to give some compensation for the time taken they offered me a discount on my next order. They promised a fast turn around, they didn't deliver!

“Dont Trust Fone Angels or Trust Pilot!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by beVance196 on 13/10/2015

Shocking company that has an appalling reputation across the real review sites and seems to be protected by false review sites like Trust Pilot (Trust Pilot receive subscriptions from client companies that pay them to manage their reviews - if you didn't know how the TP business model works look it up!!) If you use them expect to be contacted for additional repairs and wait many many weeks for your device back. Sadly if I had come to this review site rather that TP (which was all over FoneAngels website) I could have avoided all that pain. Lucky you for landing here and now take your phone to the local repair shop!

“Ipad mini screen repair - poor poor poor”

★☆☆☆☆

written by wale100 on 09/10/2015

My experience is completely different to most of the other feedback on this review forum. Sent my device off for a screen repair 3 weeks ago. Received a call suggesting that I also change the charging port. I initially declined to change the charging port, but received 3 additional emails persisting and discounting the charge for a replacement charging port, I opted in for the extra spend. Three weeks later still not received my device back, tried to call, but number just puts you through to a message suggesting you email them. I emailed and received a response that my job is still in the queue and will only get to it in a further week. ETA on repairs was 10 days and seems like they will only start work 4 weeks after receiving full payment. Doesn’t feel right to me, so I’ve asked for a full refund and a return of my device. Looks like I’ll have to find another repair centre after a complete waste of my time.

“Worst company I've ever dealt with”

★☆☆☆☆

written by dangermousette on 18/08/2015

I sent a tablet and smartphone in for a screen repair. The first thing that happened was I received an email saying that additional repairs were needed at an extra cost of £93. I declined and asked for my devices back, and to have a refund. Nothing. They don't answer their phone and it was only when I threatened legal action that I received an email response saying they were waiting for parts that were out of stock. I replied that I didn't want the repairs doing and that I wanted my items back. Nothing. Eventually, a month later, I sent a formal letter threatening legal action (again) if I didn't receive my items back. I got my tablet and phone returned, but they had repaired the tablet screen against my wishes and damaged the LCD. As if that wasn't enough, it was a further 2 weeks before they refunded me. AVOID at all costs.

“very poor repair”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Lizannmurphy on 15/08/2015

My iPad has come back with additional damage and like others on this site I was charged for a new home button as it was "faulty" when they did their assessment. Wish I had not just read their own reviews. It has taken almost a month to get the iPad back and they have offered a 25% discount on next order, I won't be using them again.

“Worst service ever”

★☆☆☆☆

written by erPowers19 on 01/08/2015

I have sent off my iPad mini to replace the cracked screen. A couple of days after receiving it they send me an email saying that they discovered that the home button is supposedly almost broken (although the screen was cracked from the other side and I have been using it for 6 months without a problem) and they want to replace it for an extra charge. I said no and asked for a picture of the supposedly damaged home button as proof that this is not just an attempt to get more money out of me. That request was ignored and then over the next month about 5 of my emails with the same request were just ignored. They replied to parts of emails that were related to other things but never to the part asking for pictures of the broken part. Then about a week after receiving the iPad they tell me that actually they don't have the glass to fix it with. And they also said that they have removed the old glass so they can return the iPad but it won't have any glass on it. So they waited for a week and removed the old glass knowing they don't have the parts. I was told that I would have to wait for 7-10 working days. However in reality it took almost a month of waiting to get the device back. I also got the device back only after I threatened to report it as stolen simply because they were simply ignoring most of my emails asking for updates and when they did reply they would always say something like "please wait some more". After doing that they repaired and returned it within a couple of days. I have never experienced a service that bad. Also note that on their website they don’t show negative feedback, only 5 star reviews. I have posted the above review there and it was never approved by them.

I have just had exactly the same experience! I wonder how many members of the public these people trick with the supposedly faulty home screen button... It took 4 weeks for a simple cracked screen repair. I requested that our device was returned unfixed so we could get it repaired elsewhere, and was quoted £14.99 cancellation fee, to cover the cost of returning the device. I work for the Royal Mail and know full well this is no way near the actual charge of posting! Would never use again and certainly not recommend.

They also object to every negative review on Trustpilot. I’ve left a bad review there and they had it taken down. Every day there are five star reviews, some times 7 of them. I don’t buy it!

“Had my iPad for a month and bad updates”

★☆☆☆☆

written by winster77 on 14/07/2015

Whilst I started off being relatively happy with the service, this took a sharp decline when further repairs were required on my iPad. I was informed at this point a further 7 - 10 working days were required to fix this. After this time was up, Fone Angels customer service got progressively worse and very quickly. Whenever I called up I had to select the new customer option in order to speak to someone. I was then told my iPad would be sent out in a few days and yet continually had to keep chasing. Fone Angels were NOT forthcoming in their information and I would've expected them to closely monitor my order considering I had already raised the complaint. At every step of the way I had to chase Fone Angels, emailing the complaints email address each time. The last straw was when I didn't even receive a dispatch email telling me my iPad had been sent back even though I was promised one. All in all, terrible customer service, no form of apology and where I did speak to someone to complain, their apologies was not sincere either. Definitely will not be using this company again.

“long overdue and substandard ipad air repair”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 07/07/2015

Heard nothing about the my screen replacement for a month as apparently they had forgotten to log my case on their system. Had to call several times whenever I wanted an update as it would usually go through to voicemail and no one responded to the messages I left. Apparently they were having particular issues sourcing replacement screens for ipads when mine went in. I eventually got the ipad back 2 months after it went in. The repair done was poor quality - the screen was not sensitive at the corners. Also the magnetic strip was broken so my magnetic cover no longer worked. After extensive negotiations I got them to agree to a free case, £20 compensation and courier collection for an express re-fix of the ipad. The second time I got the ipad back it was much better and I was happy with the quality of the repair. I then had to chase to get the case (which wasn't very nice) and the £20 compensation. The final straw was that they sent the compensation by paypal. Like most people I have never received money via paypal before. It took me at least half an hour of fiddling over several days to get my bank account added to paypal and withdraw the money. On the positive side whenever I managed to get through to a human in the company they did seem nice.

“Iphone 5s Repair - Absolutely dreadful”

★☆☆☆☆

written by hartr on 26/06/2015

Iphone 5s Repair Absolutely dreadful; I sent my phone in and within one day I got an email from one of the technical people saying I had broken an additional item which needed repair over and above the screen. I have no idea whether this was true or not but agreed to have it done at extra cost. I then waited a week and enquired where my phone was. Within a few hours I got an email saying that it was delayed due to defective parts and it would be an additional 5 – 7 working days. I waited for these 5-7 working days and then enquired again to be told it would be another five working days. I asked them whether they would still charge me full price for the service to which I got no reply. I then waited another 5 working days (you get the pattern) and enquired to be told that it had already been sent out yesterday and that I should have it today between 9am and 1 pm. I received no communication until that point that they had actually sent it. There was no-one in my house that morning as we did not know it was coming so I now have to traipse to the post office the next day. I asked the new person I was dealing with if they still felt it was right to charge me full price and they have ignored me (again) until the day after I tried to post a review on their website. Now they have offered me 25% off my next repair and free express delivery :). Strangely enough I have said no. So, if you want to have your phone with a company for nearly a month, be charged double what they originally quoted, have no proactive communication and spend your life chasing them up; then go with FoneAngels
