I had been customer for 10 years and used them for my family of 4. So I assumed I was a reasonable customer.
When I brought my new phone in for a fault things went very wrong. The phone was on guarantee. It was returned to me unprepared the first time with a crack in my screen. The second time it went I rang several times to get an update on the progress and it was told it is not ready. Only when I went to the shop directly after over 2 weeks it transpired it had returned for several days before without me being notified. The problem with he phone continued. I was instructed I only need to buy a new battery (phone 4m old) and it would work. I insisted a new battery to be put in the phone right the shop and check in there and then: surprise it did not work. I was then promised a replacement phone.
Calling the store had been impossible for several days - no on would pick up the phone to answer.
The replacement phone needed to be delivered to a home address with a person there waiting to collect. It took weeks to arrange this due to work commitments.
Staff in the branch was disinterested and arrogant.
I have now ended all my dealing with carphone warehouse and changed to a different phone shop altogether.
I outlined my problems to the complaints department and got a short letter back. "Sorry you had troubles..
I will not use them again in a hurry..
