I bought this phone in March, I have exprienced a number of problems with the phone.... The screen isn't straight and is very unstable, my screen wobbles from side to side. On a few occasions I have had to delete all of my pictures because everytime I went to go and look at them the phone cut out and would have to be swithched on again. If the phone was without these problems it would have been a very good model

“First of all I had the Nokia 7210 mobile phone, I sold...”

★★★★★

written by samsungowner123 on 08/03/2004

First of all I had the Nokia 7210 mobile phone, I sold it as it had no camera, then the T720i (looked good) but again no built in camera, then the Sony Ericsson T300 (Again no built in camera), then the Motorola E365 (wahay finally a built in camera phone) (but I got bored of it and sold that as well), then the Nokia 3650 (too big!) and finally THIS BEAUTY!!!!!!

What can I say, as soon as I opened the Samsung P400 box I was like "whoa!", the design is so slick and holding the phone is amazing, its a stunning design. I had the choice of this, the 7250i, the E700 or the SL55. But i went for this, and i'm glad I did.

The 65K is so impressive. When i'm walking around, peoples heads turn my way, and i'm not joking! it's very attractive, and the rotating screen is an amazing feature from the boys at Samsung!

The images taken are absolutely superb. They compare of quality with the high spec Digi Cameras. The only downside is the Memory of the phone, It has hardly 1mb for photos, which is awful! but you can add them to your pc, delete from the phone and take more (datacables can be bought off eBay! for a fiver)

I can't fault the phone in anyway. It has all the regular features you would expect, GPRS etc.

For all the people who are 50/50 on buying the phone because of the 'dodgy' screen, I don't know where you got them idea's from. The screen is perfect UNLESS u purposely fidget with it trying to fault it. It's a top phone.

I'd say the best camera phone after the GX20 (ugly design!) If your rich! lol, and want a phone solely on looks, I recommend this or the SL55, or even if you want it for a top quality camera, get this..or even if you want to be the odd one out, get this cuz hardly anyones got it (mainly because of the price). They go on eBay! for about 180-190, and £230 Buy it now.

All in all, a stunner from Samsung, and I can't speak highly enough of it!!!

i have a samsung p400, and i am totally dissatisfied. firsty, i like mobile phones to save the messages that i have sent to my outbox, just so i know what i have sent people. this phone does not have this option, even though its memory is big enough to hold over 300 messages.
secondly, sending the same message to many people is an absolute mission! you have to save it, open it, choose who you want to send it to, etc, over and over again until everyone you want to send it to has had it sent to them. why can\'t it have a \'send to many\' option like even the most basic nokias?
when someone sends you a link to a wap website by txt, it will only allow you to save it as the first link in your favourites (so if you recieve another cool website, you have to write it down then save it).
really, it is not a well thought out idea from samsung. hopefully the e710 is better.

“I brought this Samsung P400 mobile phone after having...”

★★★★★

written by y2jollie on 06/03/2004

I brought this Samsung P400 mobile phone after having problems with two previous phones. I originally brought a Motorola T720i but after about three months it broke and i was left using my previous nokia 3310. I wanted a good phone and went out and brought a nokia 3300, the one with the mp3 player. This, again broke after four weeks and i got a refund on it.
So then, i went out and brought a Samsung P400 on O2. I had £50 pounds off an upgrade and the original upgrade price was £100 so i got it for £50. The E700 would have been the same price for me so i had the choice of either one. I went with the P400 for the simple reason that it is not as common as the E700 as i know many people with the E700.
Anyway, i took it out of the box and thought wow. As you turn the phone on immidiatly you can tell the difference between this, a ,phone with 65,000 colours and my previous phones that had 4096 colours.
The camera on the phone is even sharper that the camera on the V200, i compared it with a mates and there is definately more quality in the p400 than the previous V200. The rotating camera can be very useful and i like the way the screen twists so that the high resolution screen is visible even when closed.
I have now compared this with the E700 and i have no doubts that this is the better phone. on the E700 when taking a picture of yourself with the phone closed the picture is not good quality as the outside screen is only 256 colours, it is only when you open the phone that you can see what it is really like but with this you can see what the photo is really like even when it is closed as you are using the good screen.
All the other features of the phone are very similar to the E700, the menu style is the same. The sound of the rigtones is brilliant on the phone. they are very loud and ultra clear, they actually sond like they have bass on them
Overall, i am glad that i chose the P400 over the E700 as even though the E700 is a brilliant phone, the P400 is slightly better. I have had this phone for nearly a week and i am very satisfied with it. Some people have asked how sterdy the screen is as it has the twist but it is fine, it is very strong and does not seem likely to break at all. The only problem that some people might not like is the price. It is a bit expensive but this phone is top of the range. If you want quality you should buy this phone

I find this Samsung P400 mobile phone is very simple and easy to use. I have problems sending picture messages. Its slimline and looks great. Although I would say that the screen rotates 180 degrees not 360 as is in the decription of the phone. I would well recomend getting this phone. Its got the good looks and the reliability. Yay the samsung p400!!!!

written by mitticus on 08/12/2003

What can I say? I just spent 390 euros on ebay for this disaster of a phone.

The SMS text interface on the Samsung P400 is awful : defaults to UPPER CASE.

The organizer doesn't even allow you to specify meeting type or duration. You can't edit meeting times in the calendar. The outlook sync is slow and unreliable.

The sound is good. The camera is passable. The rotating screen is well, unnecessary IMO.

No apparent way to set default phone numbers for contacts with multiple contact points. You can even "phone" their email address ...

I disagree with this review. This phone is bulky i admit it but the rotating screen does have a purpose. Once you open the phone up and rotate the screen and close it with the screen facing outside it acts as an external display allowing you to view incoming calls and take pictures with the phone closed. It is pricey but it's worth the money but Bluetooth should have been included with the money you are paying for this phone. I also think this phone is slightly better than the P400 as it has the addition of triband.

Kennyto's Response to mitticus's Review

I disagree with what you said about the camera. The fact that it's only 'passble'. I think it's far better then cameras that are on other phones. For example, the 7250i. I think the P400 has far better image quality. About the SMS interface, one button changes it to lower case, does this really matter? The rotating camera is a great extra to the phone, it's a lot easier to take photos using it, it's far better then pointing your phone at it, but that's just my opinion.

Are you joking? the ability to swivel the screen doing something you do once in a blue moon is better than basic SW functionality?? BTW, this review *was* of the P400.
