Such an easy process to go through, and having had trouble recycling phones through the post before with online recycling companies I decided to recycle two phones through the O2 store in Bluewater after upgrading my phone there. Both phones were checked by a staff member, checked for damage, checked that they switched on and we're working correctly and I was given a recycle value for both handsets. I left the store with two receipts and two recycle values in my head which I was expecting to be paid into my bank account within a few days. Several days later I then received an email saying that one of my handsets had a damaged screen and that they were reducing my payment by 80%!!! An 80% reduction for a screen that certainly was not smashed, cracked, had lcd damage or did not function properly. It was working when I left the store, the salesman even checked and operated the phone and touch screen in front of me, telling me it's fine and giving me a value. You have 48hrs to reply to an email address if you are not happy with the reduced value to get your phone sent back to you. Unfortunately I was away when I received the email and had no wifi so was unable to read or reply to the email and so have been unable to have my phone returned to me to sell on myself. I am left feeling very ripped off, especially as it was working 100% when I left it in store. O2 recycle are just as bent as other online companies who actively try to reduce the money they pay you, they suck you in with their good prices in store, but in reality you never get paid what you are originally offered! I'll be selling any future phones on myself and not trusting another recycling company!!!

Thanks for taking the time to detail your experience, I am truly sorry you have not benefited from the excellent recycle experience we pride ourselves in offering, as our system if very clear and customer focussed. In addition to your e-mail you should also be in receipt of a text advising you there was a reduction to your offer and to refer to your e-mail giving you additional notice of reduction. Without details of your particular order to access the technicians report, from your description it sounds like the reduction has been placed due to your device having issues with the LCD which is only identifiable when tested against a white screen. This test is carried out by processing technicians hence the communications and offer to return your device free of charge should they have any reason to alter your quotation. It is highly unfortunate that you have been unable to view your communications at the time of using the recycle service.
