Sharp Practice - avoid these people

O2 recycle - of iPhone 4s 16gb

I went with o2 as they are a big brand which I thought offered security. They reduced my quote from £115 to £23 saying there was screen 'fading' - how they had time to check this I don't know as parcel tracking showed they only had the phone an hour before emailing me with the new 'offer'. You then have to actively reject the offer or they go ahead with it. I rejected it by email and within 2 minutes they called me, saying that the email offer had been an automated reduction of 80%. The woman explained that my phone had dead pixels, that Apple expected this problem to happen and I wouldn't be able to see the problem. This isn't what the email said, and how is it a problem if you can't see it? Anyway, she said that in my case the problem wasn't too bad and they could offer me £65. I told her that I didn't believe her. There is no way, in the 2 minutes that had passed since my mail, that they had been able to ascertain this and increase the offer.
They suck you in with a great offer, then reduce it massively. IF you reject that (and I bet loads don't) then make you feel 'better' with an 'improved' quote - but still lots less than the original and what the phone is worth. Avoid!
