I echo what a lot of others have already said. From my own experience and I have been with giffgaff since early Feb of this year - when it works, it's great, when it doesn't and that is at the moment, it's rubbish.
They seem to have lots of issues with people not being able to purchase GoodieBags, I.e. the inclusive packages of minutes and texts and data. I have had to purchase credit instead in order to make calls etc and that's nowhere near as value for money as the GoodieBags. They will tell you that their call / text and data costs are the best in the UK and they may well be but if you need your phone for your job or just generally text / surf Internet all the time they our £10 credit will be gone in no time.
Service when you do manage to get your package updated is on O2 so it's generally very good and I live in an area where the signal is generally quite bad.
A big killer for me is that you are NOT allowed to tether your iPhone to your iPad or laptop with personal hotspot, at this time GiffGaff will not allow it. I would be happy to pay a little extra for this but alas it is not going to happen.
I recently went abroad and had no problems with spurious bills that I have had from the likes of O2 and Three in the past.
As the company is Internet based - There IS NO customer service / call centre. People keep complaining about the lack of call centre but there is none, that's why the packages are so cheap.
You can however email a service agent who generally get back to you within 24hrs, sometimes quite quickly.
In summery it's the old saying 'You get what you pay for!'
I wouldn't recommend GiffGaff to anyone who is depending on a service provider to sort out a problem quickly but if you are willing to sacrifice a few problems for a very cheap service then you can take your chances and be quite happy.
