The Mini is an iconic small car produced by BMC British Motoring Corporation and its successors from 1959 until 2000. The original Mini is the most popular British car ever made. It was superseded by the New Mini or MINI launched in 2001. The original Mini design was very innovative, allowing its space-saving front-wheel-drive layout to generate 80 per cent of the area of the car's floorpan for passengers and luggage. From 1961 the sporty Mini Cooper was produced plus a more powerful version, the Mini Cooper S, in 1963 - enhancing the Minis status as a vehicle of cool. The car was such a success that it remained relatively unchanged stylistically over the years even until the modern Mini was launched in 2000 under the new ownership of BMW. The modern range are technically unrelated to the old cars although produced with much better performance and interior spec.; although, they do retain the classic transverse 4 cylinder, front-wheel-drive configuration. The Modern Cooper S, in particular has continued the style success of the original, helped with a major marketing campaign which included the 2003 film remake version of the Italian Job.

The CAR. If the Austin Mini is the most loved vehicle on the car history, so the Cooper S is the one. I own one, and it is priceless. A piece of history. The small car that changed the history, and the S, means all of this with a big heart...
Power. Being a mini, as the most ordinary 850 launched on 1959, but with all the improvements that pull it to a scene ...

The best car I've ever driven.period. I've driven lots of sports cars but the MINI Cooper S is the only car which you can drive with confidence whilst travelling at speed. The handling is just amazing, the steering works as quick as you can move your arms. I've driven cars with crazy accelaration, much faster than the Cooper S, but I would still choose a Cooper S; its good on fuel, quick, low road tax, stylish ..and above all, fun. ...

I have had my Mini Cooper for 4 years and have had it from new. Although I still love it I have had problems with it that you just don't expect from a £16,000 BMW! It has had 2 new steering colums, a new radiator fan and it rattles like hell. I also have the white wheels which are a nightmare to clean! The bracket on my exhaust has rotted and there is a hole developing in the exhaust box. I have only done 35,000 miles. All I can say is thank god the servicing is free for another ...

The mini cooper S is a great car for those who want to have fun driving down country lanes and also want a practical commuter car. The build quality is great although the centre console does creak when cold.Mini's aren't cheap but the residuals mean that when you do come to sell it you aren't going to lose a great deal. With BMW build quality bits aren't going to fall off along the way either. This is the Mk1 BMW mini so it is the supercharged version. Whilst this gives ...

When I was much younger I owned a 63 Morris Cooper S and when BMW built the new Mini it was love at first site for me.
I bought my Works Cooper S in May of 2004 and now have approximately 80,000 trouble free and totally enjoyable miles on it. I have had a 17 % under drive pulley fitted and still manage to obtain a constant 30 MPG. The only problem I have had is keeping tires on the front of it due to a lead right foot. As we have other larger vehicles we removed the rear seat and made a ...
