We did the mini cruise thing to Amsterdam, going out on the 30th Dec and enjoying Amsterdam for the few hours we were there and travelling back on Hogmanay, bringing in the New Year at sea. The crossing on the way out was rough, and my husband felt it big time, but that might have been something to do with the lovely buffet we ate on the way out. He was a little ill but I was fine, rock and roll it was called on this trip out! The bunks were mega comfy and we had a window right at the prow of the ship, seven deck, and still the waves were hitting the window! We had booked an extra breakfast for arrival, but few people turned up for that! We docked a bit late in Amsterdam - understandably because of the weather, but nevertheless enjoyed our short stay. The trip back was great, good food, loads of space for entertainment, (a bit packed on the way out - loads of young ones going out to spend New Year in Amsterdam?) The entertainment was really great, especially their guest act, can't remember their name but they did what they called pop opera. Great voices. The celebrations felt really special. To add to that a lovely leisurely breakfast on our way in to port. By the way by midnight in the way home, you would not know you were on a boat. All in all a good experience. Recommend it for something different, and reasonable value.
