In the month of August we have had 5 pod alarm malfunctions 2 fall off even with skin tac, and 1 Pdm error. My son states he wants to go back to shots. Not to mention we are now short on insulin. The company replaces pods but not insulin. They only provide reimbursement for what you paid after rolling a long process. This does not help when you run short, have to get an extra prescription which will not be covered by insurance and as a result cost more.

I've had a serious issue with the Pods failing. They are very expensive and the quality control needs to be improved. For someone who does not have the best of insurance, I would recommend that they think twice before going to this system.

The Omnipod is a small insulin delivery pump that weighs only 1.2 ounces with a full resevoir. Unlike conventional pumps, this one has no long tubes to worry about. It sticks to your body like a bandaid and you wear it for 3 days, or as directed by your physician. One of the greatest features of this pump is that it comes with a wireless remote control...no more lifting your shirt in public. You are able to discretely monitor how much insulin you are taking by using the remote. Most people think it's a cell phone. The pump can be worn on the arms, legs, lower back, or abdomen. It can be fully submerged in water for 30 minutes with no worries. On the downside, this product is very expensive and I feel OmniPod could update some of the features such as providing a color monitor for the remote control. The pump sticks to your body like a bandaid and I don't feel there are enough contact points. Sometimes if I bump a corner, the pump will rip right off! ...oh yeah, Bandaids hurt when you take them off.
