I bought the Rio Cali because it was expandable and because a friend had a Rio player that looked good and worked well. When it arrived I loaded it up with music and everything seemed fine until I tried using the playlists. When you have 512k of MP3 files you want to be able to split them up into album-sized playlists. If you do this with the Rio Cali the player will ignore any files that are on the expansion card.
Many calls and emails to the tech support lines later, I finally got a confirmation from Rio that none of their players support playlists on expansion cards. By this time it was five months after I bought the thing so I decided it was too late to try to get my money back.
A pity, because it really is a good player, but I am going to buy something else next time that will do what I want.

The Rio Cali Sport 128MB is a great portable mp3 player. I would highly recommend it. It has a great, easy to read LCD screen, that is protected by a rubberish ridge that goes around it, so if dropped, it doesn't scratch. I have dropped this player many times, including on my concrete garage floor, with no scraping done to the player or it's screen. It has rubber material protecting it, and is extremely stury. It also has expandable memory, because it's size, 128mb, is somewhat small. Another great feature is it's FM tuner. Somehow I think it uses the headphones as antennae, so I reccomend a bigger set of 'phones than the earbuds they provide you, for better reception. I really like the Rio Joystick, for easy <<, >>, ^, and [] (forward/fforward,back/rewind, play, stop)
I can't describe much about it, except to say it is a great mp3 player, and is klutz friendly in case you drop it. My recommendation is that you go to the player's website, http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/shop/_templates/item_main_Rio.asp?model=215&cat=35 (just copy and paste in your browser) or to amazon.com to read the more technical aspects of it. I researched MANY mp3 players, for at least 4 months, if not more, before deciding on this one, so I know many things about mp3 players.
