I have had a Sparks card since the very beginning and enjoyed the offers that came and it encouraged me to go into the store. Then I started not getting any offers whatsoever for over a year and a half or more. I spoke to a supervisor in the store and she stated my card was not working yet my purchases were an on line receipt.. I rang the call centre which is in Cape Town and the very polite people there are as much use as a chocolate fire guard.. They promise to sort it but nothing happens. Whe you email you get a generic email stating that sparks offers come from what you buy and are personalised and look out for offers. I decided to get another card on another email address and you get a £5 voucher off a £40 shop as a kick off then you get nothing even after many M&S shops and using your card each time. I really don't know what to do now.. I think dont bother but why should some people get offers and others none. A cashier at my store told me this is happening to alot of customers.

I have disliked this “loyalty” card from the outset as it doesn’t IMO incentivise shoppers to use it. What I want is to earn real money when I shop that I can use to offset future purchases. Additionally, I used the card today and didn’t receive the discounts loaded on the card. Instore Staff were useless at addressing the issue.

I have had a Sparks card from the outset, originally was worth having. Lots of offers on a regular basis, but lately nothing except odd freebie. Seems to be following Marks and Spencer ethos, which I find very insults my intelligence. We are told in press, prices are rising so they are increasing prices on food. The loaf I purchase increased from £1.50 to £1.75 over 5 days, I visit Liverpool store quite often on daily basis so am aware of increases. I now have spend more money on food shopping in Tesco, quite happy to pay for want I want but feel increases are taking the proverbial

Disgusting service from M&S credit card. I was charged interest on £800 I don't even own them!!! After so many calls I managed to speak to so called manager, even she could explain properly why! Please be careful, if possible don't use their card at all.

At last you are rewarding loyal customers so we get some treats from you. You have been a little behind other stores,so glad you have got up to date. Shall look forward to my first treat spend.

I especially like the money back offers, plus the fact that the goods are of superior quality. Food and Clothing, in particular. George Harris

This is not just a credit card it is a credit card with a surprising number of benefits. Periodically OH!joy of joys you receive free tokens to put towards your next purchases in store and extra points on various departments from where you buy. You can pay your monthly bill in store when doing your next shop and every now and then you have an invitation to a super session in one of their Flag Ship Stores which is always a treat. Would like more notice when special sale days occur though, it is very galling to pay full price for an item and then find it well reduced the next day.

The hot drinks vouchers are a great idea but it would be even greater to be allowed a cold drink when the weather is hot. The staff on the shop floor are knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I am also extremely impressed with the holiday insurance and its wide range of included medical conditions. Even in the older age group I can still find many styles in the Per Una range That I feel comfortable wearing.

I wholeheartedly agree. A very difficult and confusing arrangement. I got there in the end I hope! C W Hughes.

Absolutely TRUE. This is my experience today and I've spent over an hour navigating ALL the M&S web pages for a relevent item to Click. All I want to do is win an iPad for my wife to become IT Lit. - we are both over 80!.

I use my M&sS card regularly, however feel that the 20% discount days which are for family and friends and are very widely distributed by them should be given to cardholders for their loyalty too.

I use my M&S Credit Card for nearly all my monthly expenditure, however for the amount of money that I spend I don't think that the rewards are that good. I feel that M&S could do more to keep their loyal users e.g. In store vouchers could be improved and coffee/tea vouchers would be a welcome gesture. I enjoy the convenience of using the credit card rather than carrying cash but feel that I am more loyal to M&S than it is to me!

First thing the M&S card is only good if you shop at M&S , I love being a VIP Card holder, FREE Coffee, gifts throughout the year, special offers, travel insurance, it's fantastic, plus i save my vouchers up all year and I had £230 to spend at christmas in store on food and presents. I use my M&S card for everything (petrol at Tesco, 2 lots of points in one) which i get 1 point for every pound (£10 for every £1000) and 4 points when i do my weekly food shopping in M&S (£40 for every £1000) also with being a card holder you get invited to special events with extra offers in store...I personally wouldn't do without my card, and for me it's the best card with incentives on the market. I seem to spend a lot on my card but never seem to get many points ? and the vouchers that I do get are not very often, I use my card for almost everything and spend approx 900 to 1000 per month but still never seem to acccumilate many points, last time I had vouchers was way back in the summer, rang up and said that my vouchers were due in mid feb and totalled 23.00 !!!!!! see what I mean.

I use my M&S premium card regularly.
I use all of the vouchers which are for drinks in the cafe.
The travel insurance provided with the card is excellent.
No point in getting the card unless you are going to use it to full advantage. I enjoy getting the cash vouchers and the extra "gift" vouchers for birthday etc through the year.

The reasons for the very negative review are that as an overseas expat I and I expect a few others have fallen foul of a little known Term and Condition. That is to say you have to be a UK resident of a BFPO to get reward vouchers.
This TC is so unknown that Customer Service staff are unable to direct you where it can be found. They do not advise of the risks involved of moving your address overseas.
Some of their customer service staff, it is rumoured, have suggested that if you live overseas then you will never use the vouchers, some have said it would cost too much to send the vouchers and some have also argued that if you use a UK relative as an M&S address then all will be OK. But these are only rumours.
I have asked that M&S confirm to me that they will in future advise all customers moving overseas that they wil be advised of the risks, ie no vouchers. But they have failed to reply.
So dear people if moving overseas forget M&S and go for a more reliable card such as ..................??

I have just returned to the UK from being abroad for a couple of years. I have used my M&S card on my numerous trips back to here but have received no loyalty card vouchers and just assumed that that was because my purchases were small. A month ago I moved properly back to the UK and I contacted M&S today to update my home address details only to be told that they would activate my loyalty card. I wasn't aware that it had ever been deactivated.
I am very annoyed as I have spent over £3000, purposely using this card to gain loyalty points, during the last month on hotel bills and moving into my flat. Getting connected to internet and a telephone line takes time, hence my only updating my new address details today. I can remember joining the loyalty scheme, in the company's second largest store, in Camberley, when it was launched many years ago and there was no mention of deactivating the card if I moved abroad temporarily.
I have been a loyal customer of that store, as well as the Wokingham one, and I have regularly used M&S's online service as well as their food ordering at Christmas, New Year and for sports day picnics (for 4 children at a number of schools so lots of quiches and sandwich platters). In my new city, Bath, M&S is my nearest food store and I shall be shopping there regularly.
I do hope that I will be backdated with loyalty rewards for my recent spending, at least since I have moved into my flat (I'll forget about the hotel bills), as very kindly suggested by customer services today. They've said that they will request a manual alteration to allow this. I hope so and I will definitely be looking out for the vouchers. You learn something new every day.

Hi,
This is more a question than a review but does anyone have a feel for the value of the points that M&S award each month depending on your spending? They're currently promoting their Premium club which costs £10 p.m. on the basis that members receive triple points. However, without knowing the value of a point, it's practically impossible to work out if I'd be better or worse off after joining.
Any thoughts please?

At xmas, for convenience I rec gift cards from friends & family as I wanted to buy a dishwasher when moving in Feb. Dissapointed to find that I cannot use them to buy dishwasher or any large household item on line on !!!!! Have sold them as they are no use to me and using the money at a competitor store. Shame

I took out the M&S card due to the 0% initial offer on purchases as I was anticipating large outgoings and a lean time with the end of tax year nad a new job. The voucher incentives seemed a bonus. I was surprised I could not get loyalty points if I purchased other than on the card. Also I was disappointed in my credit limit - less than half monthly take home pay.
The final nail in the coffin is the comlexities of using all the vouchers with so many Ts & Cs so I can't use this voucher for that or that one for this and as the minutes tick by I think "my time is worth more than this".
With tesco vouchers you can go there any week and find something you need - with M&S it just doesn't happen - I can go 6 months without any signifiant needs in their store and actually our local department store is so much better stocked I'd not usually bother with M&S so I think it is back to using the cashback card I have and the M&S will soon be closed.

I recently received a letter informing me that a Marks and Spencer Loyalty Card had been inactive for a period of time and that your company just required confirmation that it was still in possession. I duely telephone your helpline to inform you that I did have the card but unfortunately my wife had died last July. Th operator was unbelievably rude and insensitive to my situation and demanded to know why the card had not been cancelled immediately. I firmly replied that I had a little more on my mind at the time and cancelling the card must have simply slipped my mind. The operator seemed to not accept this nor did she seem to understand the fact that I would no longer wish to have an account with Marks and Spencer if this is the way you conducted business.
I would appreciate it if you could please track back his operator and have an appropriate word. My wife and I have long been ardent supporters and customers of Marks and Spencers and I feel very let down and hugly disappointed.

I was talked into this card by the assistant when I was paying for a pair of trousers. I was offered a bottle of wine as an incentive. It soon became clear that it was more than a loyalty card and that it was, first and foremost, a credit card. The assistant assured me that i did not need to use that part of the facility, that I should use it just as a loyalty card. This was, knowingly or unknowingly, I know not which, inaccurate. If you don't pay using this card, you do not get loyalty points. I only know this from the reviews here after I did an internet search to see what I had let myself into. I would have preferred that I was told the truth so I could make up my mind on facts. Now I have to chop the card up and send it back with a gracious note, as I have a right to do. That will cost the M&S credit card organisation more than the wine it gave me. The wine was slightly below average, not one I would buy, so I don't feel bad about it. I do feel bad about being given inaccurate information.
