I had not played Lawn Bowls before a friend suggested I went down to Cobham Bowling Club in Surrey. I did not have any bowling equipment and was told all I needed was a pair of flat shoes. Bowls would be available for me use at the club. I was given free tuition and after a couple of sessions I found it very friendly so I joined.
