Bought Nov 2008. Great to start with but battery has been dead for last 2 years. New ones very expensive so I just use mains. System gets hot and crashes occassionally. Issues starting to creep in with loading. At time of writing I've been trying for over an hour to boot the thing up! Seriously thinking of getting all my stuff off this laptop and putting it onto a Samsung, which my family have.

The Inspiron 1525 is THE WORST laptop I've ever had the misfortune of being screwed out of my hard earned money for. Nothing by misery from day one - The wireless card was never compatible with Windows apparently and things just went down hill from there. I replaced the keyboard whilst still under warranty but it crashes regularly despite being kept up to date with anti virus and windows updates etc and I've never installed anything untoward on it. To summarise - THE WORST LAPTOP IN THE WORLD and Dell are scum bags! You'd be better off flushing your money down the toilet as it would be less frustrating and about as much use.

As a teenager I mainly use my laptop for school work and social networking sites and this laptop has been very good in doing all of that. The hardrive did break after a year but Dell replaced it free of charge :) . The computer also has enough memory for the Sims 2 plus 4 expansion packs which is an added bonus. And after 18months of pretty much constant use the battery life is still pretty good. Overall a great laptop for the price.

I got this "Free" with AOL broadband/phone deal. However after about 18 months I unplugged it from the power and it went off. Put it back on charge, for a while, same thing again. Bough new power supply £40 Maplins, same problem. Found problem is power socket centre pin, put 1cm very thin wire inside centre hole, bent over to an L shape, suddenly charging works fine. However original battery is worn out. Bought new battery (not Dell original much cheaper, better capacity ones out there if you look £60.)Laptop now working as normal. Poor design of power connector. I am a Secondary School teacher and certainly wouldn't buy these for use in a school.

Had this laptop for 18 mths. Not a sniff of a problem.
Dell allows you to customise which I did, increasing the ram and processor. Programmes load fast. Much better than my previous Toshiba Satellite, which needed to be sent back after 3 months, due to cooling probs.
I'm very pleased with this laptop and would recommend another to anyone.

I owned a Dell Inspiron 1525 before and I had good experience with it.Rarely freeze, good performance, bright screen but decent battery. It's broken down after 2 year and I gave it to my brother.A good laptop at all

Good business based latop.I had the dell6400 laptop..still going...used now as back up.The 1525 has been faultless to date and would recommend the inspiron series to any small business user.
if i had to be picky the screen seems a little too easily moved when picking up the latop.

THE SLOWEST IN THE WORLD AND IT WAS BAD EXPERIENCE WITH DELL

so many different problems over a short period of, me and my brother both got the same laptop as it was the cheapest one at the time, so far my hard drive has blown because of the wiring, it has power problems which means it can turn off at any time unexpectedly making me scared to do work just incase i loose it, my brothers laptop however this laptop does not recognise the battery at all, and the laptop appears to think the delete button is pressed down constanly making it delete anything you have clicked on which is unbelieveabley annoying! My advice would be to stay well away from a dell as they want nothing to do with you after its been bought even though they claim my problem to be one with the mother board meaning it should never have left the factory, pay the little extra.

Good laptop great value for money, i would recomend this to family and freinds because it is very easy to use and loads all programs very quickly however it's battery life is not the best.

after just 13 months both of my dell inspiron 1525 laptops are falling to bits - they are;
- whurring
- freezing
- not shutting down
- then shutting down when i am in the middle of work (fully charged)
- sound board is lifting
- keys a falling off
- keyboard is lifting
- one has had a new hard-driver and now asking for another one and now so is the other.....the list goes on
I have tried taking this up with dell and they have refused point balnk to help me! their customer service is horrifing.
The only advice that i can give to people about buying a dell computer is DON'T.
Dell are very good at taking your money, but not very good at delivering it back in the quality of the goods they give you back. hope this helped.

Ok, well I have had two of these machines, the first one Dell Sent me had 3 new hard drives, 3 new motherboards, 1 new set of speakers, 1 new keyboard and each repair (repaired 5 times!), i never abused the machine, all it ever did was sit on my desk, then I had enough so on Dell Support after 2 hours and alot of moaning they sent me a new replacement. 9 Months down the line with this NEW model of the 1525 the machine is freezing, blue screens of death, crashing and overheating. Sent it back to Dell and they put a new hard drive in. 2 days after getting it back, the internal CPU fan broke, the machine overheats constantly through no cooling so they want to put a new motherboard, hard drive, heatsink, fan in it. Customer support it ok, considering the trouble but the constant repairs have taken their toll to my passion for dell. If you want a laptop to turn your hair grey, make you want to throw it out the window and have buckets of money to waste. I have found your solution, meanwhile this student is going back to Apple Macintosh, and Toshiba. I would not purchase another dell laptop ever again. Every internet review claims they last 1 year thats it. Well if any review is worthwhile, then listen to me - DO NOT PURCHASE A DELL INPIRON 1525 notebook unless you want to waste money. Ok their maybe a few 'good working' machines i am sure, but they are few and far between. In fact by the sounds of things, steer clear of Dell SMT technology, and never by a laptop from this company. And if you want to risk it, make sure that you make sure every kink and breakage happens within 7 days otherwise dell will steal your money with no return! Most poorly designed, cheap hardware i have ever come accross!
A FAILURE TO THE NAME OF TECHNOLOGY AND COMPUTING
Dell Inspiron 1525
Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 2.0Ghz
2GB DDR2 RAM
250GB Hard Drive
DVD Dual Layer Burner
Windows Vista Home Premuim

I only ever used this laptop for about one month before my Aunt became the sole user. The get straight in there, the battery life is, well, its absolutely awful, would last say, 1hr fully charged, just browsing the internet and chatting on MSN. However, i must admit, the touch pad and keyboard is fantastic, much better than my Acer. The processor on the Dell is "faster" but my Acer appears alot faster, maybe it utilizes the hardware alot better. For about £400, i think i would with hindsight, have chose the Acer. Lastly, about 1 week ago, Vista and i would like to mention, is Legitimate, decided to stop working. After a factory restore, all appears good. Dell, keep on trying, we know you are capable of more.

well, i've bought this Dell Inspiron 1525 only 2 days ago, but i had some experience from my sister's dell inspiron 6400 which resembles to a large extent the inspiron 1525...
i think from my experience that 1525 has very strong keypads(better of course than hp) and it has very modern look not found in other dell models. It is quite great and the only thing that can bother is the sound, but just a pair of subs can fix it for sure. I will write here my review after somewhile to get sure whether i will face the above problems or not, but uptil now it is amazing!!!

well, the dell inspireon 1525 is a very good laptop, in general. The graphics card is not very good, so I wouldn't recommend this laptop for gamers. But the battery is fairly good and I personally don't think the fan is that loud, So, overall, this laptop is very good for the money you pay. The best part is that it can be customised to meet your specifcations. I recomend this for studying and working.

This laptop is shockingly bad. About a month after purchase we first had problems with it. First it was the CD drive and memory card slot not working. Since then we have had numerous problems with it. It is also very slow, in fact my 8 year old computer (not a Dell!) is faster. Now after the waranty has run out the laptop is barely useable. The battery life is awful. Beware of this laptop, I certainly wouldn't purchase another Dell computer again.
