“BEWARE! New co. has no record of installation 2yrs ago”

★★☆☆☆

written by PaulKirvell on 08/10/2014

I had KBBC install a kitchen just under 2 years ago. They did a pretty good job and would have recommended them. However, the tap fitted with the sink is now corroding. When I rang to ask for a replacement I was told that my kitchen must have been bought from KBBC Ltd whereas the business is now owned by KBBC Kitchens Ltd and the "new" owners have no records of installations by the previous company i.e. I presume any guarantees provided on purchase are now worthless.

written by CPAT on 03/07/2014

My experience with KBBC was as follows: I had an English sales person arrive who was very good and promised loads...after we signed the contract the service then went a little downhill. We were given a date for the kitchen to be fitted and were told it would take up to 5 days for the job to complete. They told us they only start work on a Monday and would not start midway though the week. The sales person told me they would send their own electrician who would work with my builder and show him where to make the holes so the kbbc electrician could then run the wires. This never happened…What we did have was an electrician come to the property and roughly draw on the wall the heights the sockets should be but told us if it is wrong he wont take responsibility, (A tip is to make sure they write EVERY SINGLE thing they promise in the contract.) The kitchen units arrived a few days before the kitchen was due to be fitted. The fitter then told me we had missing doors and we luckily noticed the door handles were wrong as well. The fitter told me he would speak with KBBC and sort it out, this in turn delayed the kitchen being fitted by another week as KBBC had to reorder the missing parts. The kitchen fitter completed 50% of the kitchen in the first couple of days but had to stop due to the missing parts, he asked for 50% of the money to be paid for the work he had done. I did not want to do this as per the contract he should be paid on full once kitchen was completed…I called KBBC about this and they told me it is between me and the fitter to sort the payment out. I was not happy about this, as it put me in a awkward position. The fitter was excellent however the service and project management was non existent, there were no courtesy calls to see how the kitchen was coming along and no courtesy calls once the kitchen was fitted. We had someone that WAS NOT GAS SAFE fit our oven and their Electrician from what I can tell was not REGISTERED as we recently found a 3 sockets that had no earthing, which the KBBC electrician fitted. This could have led to a FIRE or ELECTRICUSION, luckily we found the issue when the washing machine stopped working and on inspection of the socket we could see it had melted. They also used a 3rd party company for Granite which again any issues we had with them we had to speak to the granite company and not KBBC. Another point which, we did not realise was they do not take the rubbish. We had a new kitchen fitted and it left us with a skip worth of rubbish i.e. spare wood boxes etc.. I wrote a negative review and was then told to remove it by the director, in exchange for money and extended warranty. After reporting the VERY SERIOUS issue around the electric wires in my kitchen, I was informed KBBC Limited has gone into administration and the website/assets have now been purchased by KBBC Kitchens Limited and they wont honour the agreement. So I have decided to repost my review. I had to pay an electrician £150 to correct the issue. My advice is AVOID and go with someone else. (kitchen was installed in 2011)

“Me and my wife bought a kitchen 12 months ago from...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DavidHoz on 13/03/2014

Me and my wife bought a kitchen 12 months ago from Kbbc for our first home. We had it installed by kbbc fitters and it has been falling apart ever since. Literally falling apart. A door fell of within a week. A drawer came out of it's hinges ripping the chipboard. Parts of the fridge never arrived and a whole panel above the fridge was missing. Over the months we have tried to get it fixed by calling them and got nowhere. Lots of promises but no answers . After 8 months the vinyl on all the end panels started to peel off showing the mdf structure inside. That vinyl now comes off clean in one piece with no adhesive holding it down. The worst part is when I asked the kitchen designer if it was a vinyl kitchen at time of purchase he said no. In fact the door he showed us was a completely different weight and feel than the door we actually got.  When our 1 year warranty (Yes 1 year ) was nearly up we increased the intensity of our attempts to get the kitchen fixed and we were told that the company we bought off KBBC LTD had gone into administration and the new company KBBC Kitchens Ltd were not liable for our guarantee. What is worse is that the Director of KBBC LTD and the director of KBBC Kitchens is the same person. The website is the same and so are the kitchens. Apparently the only thing that isn't the same is the liability to fix faulty products! If that doesn't sway you to take your business elsewhere then the terrible quality of their kitchens should.

“Waste of my time.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MHMI on 15/12/2013

Ordered my kitchen (Pendle Pastel) at the beginning of October. Part fitted at the end of October. The designer and surveyor both assured me the job would be done in "one hit" and that my time would not be wasted as I had previously experienced a "bathroom from hell" installation spread over several months dealt with by another company. The surveyor (John Perry) actually told me that the owner of KBBC was very "hands on" and made sure personally that any problems which arose were quickly rectified. The "one hit" claim was an absolute joke however. The washing machine (which wasn't even in stock and had to be "back ordered") and cooker hood didn't arrive until the end of the following week. One of the glass shleves for the dresser wasn't, and still hasn't been delivered. The glazed dresser doors are of such poor quality I wonder if they were subject to any quality control processes whatsoever. The areas around the glass are so poorly finished that they are being replaced - I hope. Photos were sent to KBBC. There was no delay in suppying the kitchen (I was a cash buyer - no credit), but when it came to actually replacing the glazed doors I was told that I would have to wait "several weeks" as they have to be manufactured and then glazed. Funny how I didn't have to wait several weeks when they wanted to collect my money! Then I was told the doors would be delivered w/c 2nd December. It didn't happen as they had to "chase up the glazier." Then I was told they had "arrived back in the KBBC warehouse and that the fitter would collect them contact me in order to fit them this last week." That didn't happen either. Meanwhile KBBC has had the missing glass dresser shelf for weeks, but can't even be bothered to courier it to me; preferring instead to deliver it with the replacement doors - whenever that may be. If you like a company with supply chain issues, nil to poor customer communication, having your time wasted, as wellas having jobs dragging on for months, then this is comany for you. Am now taking these issues up with Trading Standards.

Hi there I'm having such a hassle with this company the cupboards in my kitchen are peeling off. Kbbc kitchens (now limited) they won't replace them and won't take responsibility as they have gone into administration. I'm currently 6months pregnant and finding the whole thing very stressful. Did you ever get sorted??

Poor you! You don't need this at the moment.
I only got it sorted by posting adverse reviews on this site and other social media sites. So don't give up.
Try posting adverse, but truthful, comments on their Twitter and Facebook pages. Also post photos of your problem areas.
KBBC still have an active website, so going into administration under one trading name and continuing to trade under another, without taking responsibility for previous sales, seems utterly perverse.
Other than that, I suggest you take it up with your local Trading Standards Office. Ask them to contact the local Trading Standards Office covering the KBBC trading addresses to see if they have had any previous issues with them.
Good luck!

You are right it would appear the negative reviews are being taken off the site. I wrote one two days ago and now it has disappeared. What's the point of a review centre when they remove anything that is detrimental? I would advise anyone looking for a kitchen not to trust KBBC my kitchen is falling apart and nothing is being done about it.

I'm in the same boat as you, Waiting for missing/replacement parts for kitchen. This company is appalling and the after-sales service is the worst I've experienced. After-sales woman is rude, incompetent and dishonest.

Kbbc's Response to MHMI's Review

Written on: 20/12/2013

Dear customer, the door range that you ordered is a handmade painted door with a three to five week lead-time to manufacture depending on factory workload.
Your kitchen was supplied within within this lead-time and was fitted together with plastering, painting, removal of existing wall tiles, removal of existing floor tiles, tiling walls and tiling floors.
All this work was completed in only eight working days.
You then reported one glass shelf was missing and two doors that had damage to them on the inside and not visible unless the cupboards were open.
We have ordered these for you and you have been made aware that we expected these to be with us sometime after the 2nd December. This is well within the manufacture timeline of three to five weeks.
We acknowledge that there has been a slight delay due to the Pre-Christmas rush however in this case we do not feel we deserve this review.

We apologise for any inconvenience

From: MHMI. Re: My post of 15/12/2013.
The missing glass shelf and replacement glazed doors were delivered and fitted just before Christmas.
The reviews on "Money Saving Expert" (MSE) however make interesting reading.
Following several requests, they emailed me on 15/12/2013 and said she would arrange for the guarantee and checklist to be sent to me as per the KBBC website. Despite a reminder, and over a month elapsing, nothing has happened.
I accept that appliances are covered the manufacturers guarantees, but if KBBC say they offer a comprehensive (written) customer guarantee and a checklist to be completed by the customer - then that is what they should supply.
I shall issue one further reminder, and if nothing further is heard I shall post further reviews on this site and MSE.

I was promised the remaining pelmets and cornices that were wrong (and re-ordered in October) would be with me in November. I was also promised delivery twice in December. Then in January I had an e-mail asking what size they should be. These people just don't care once they have you money.

“Worst Company in the World!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by drmsa on 03/12/2013

I have had the unfortunate experience of dealing with this company. I arranged for them to carry out an extension of my garage. Signed up a contract to commence work in January, ultimately the work started in April. Was advised the work would be finished in 2-3 weeks, carried on for more than 2 months! And believe me during those two months I have had to shout at the top of my voice, scream on the phone, write letters, text messages! We had a new born baby at the time as well and I cannot imagine how heartless these guys (builders) can be! Ultimately I had to pay from my own pocket to get things done by another builder which they had promised to refund and now its been over 6 months and they just ignore my letters, phone calls and messages! I am going to drag them to the courts! If I can save even one person to get anything done by them, I would feel blessed as I would not wish this company even on the worst of my enemies!

“This company is a joke”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Cadael on 25/11/2013

We had our kitchen “eventually” installed by KBBC and even knowing that you'll always come up against snags you don't expect several significant problems and horrendous customer service we experienced. They refused to deliver the fridge/freezer as their drivers said “ It won’t fit”, but their surveyor says “ it would”. After providing them with a solution to deliver, when it arrived the product was damaged and had to be returned, all this with no explanation of what happens next. A few phone calls later and we are told they have to wait for the product to be returned to the warehouse for assessment before they can contact the supplier. They then have to wait for the supplier to exchange the products so they can deliver a new one and all this with no timescales or apology. If this wasn’t enough they designed our kitchen with a wine cooler that did not fit the space it was designed for and then offer a cheap alternative. When asked for a product of similar quality (which we had to hunt down ourselves), we were told that " it has to go to their accounts department for approval and they may reject this" and again there are no timescales as to when a decision will be made. This time we received a grudging apology saying “this was their process” and we just had to wait. To add insult to injury they changed the design of our kitchen without consulting or informing us and yet again because another product that was designed to be installed in a location impractical for it. This apparently was agreed to by their surveyor, who failed to inform anyone else. Another phone call gained little explanation other than “Yeah, they needed to move it as is didn’t fit in the original location” from the so called Operations Manager. Again no apology here and the feeling that he considered the matter resolved. Resolution at that point seemed impossible, as despite calling several times and having promises of call backs, these were never received. After asking to be put through to a supervisor or someone who could resolve these issues, we were passed back to the operations manager who said “we needed to speak to the sales person”, who would be calling after lunch. ( It might have been nice to have lunch, but without a kitchen this would have been a fruitless endeavour). We also had to have another surveyor out to agree to the fact the wall cupboards were incorrect (in the fact that you couldn't open them) which they eventually agreed to replace. His only comment on this point was "I was going to give you that one...", as if there weren't a plethora of others. Their promise of; “Paramount to profit is to make the client more than happy and we have achieved this consistently which our reputation shows. KBBC Kitchens will always endeavour to do our best until our customer is more than happy and completely satisfied with our service.” should maybe read as; “Paramount to profit is to make the client sign and then if they get a kitchen that’s nice, if not, who cares.” Now having seen the finished work and lived with it, hideous doesn’t even cover it. It took several months to install, several more to get a refund on returned goods that didn’t fit and many, many hours on the phone to hapless idiots who promised the world and delivered nothing. I would highly recommend everyone to avoid this company. Do not be fooled by all the positive reviews on this site, I can only assume these were either written by themselves, they paid people to do it, or that somehow the Managing Director himself was doing a stint as “Undercover Boss” in the weeks preceding the positive outcome for some customers.

Totally agree, this company ruined my life for months, and then took money out of my account before the kitchen was finished. Do not believe 6 months interest free, it is 6 months interest free from when you sign that paper. The fact that it takes 7 months to get a barely passable kitchen at premium prices is irrelevant to them!
Wrong appliances, ill fitting cupboards, poor design. Customer service DOES NOT EXIST. Woe betide if anything goes wrong, they promise to phone you back, and just lie. Hour after hour, day after day, month after month I was phoning up to try to resolve problems. AVOID THIS COMPANY FOLKS

“Worst experience ever.”

written by Smee38 on 04/11/2013

I bought a kitchen from Kbbc on the 8th of August, and the whole process has only just been finished last week just under 3months after being promised it in 3 weeks. First of all it was supposed to arrive on the 24 August. After contacting them on the 25th to see what happened it turns out the forgot to order it. When it did arrive 3 weeks later parts were missing. It was supposed to come pre-assembled and it came flat pack. Once the units where finally installed the templating people came promtly. But turns out the top I ordered was out of stock and would take a further 3 weeks. After 3 weeks no suprise when the top never turned up. After a week of 2-3 times a day calling I finally found out there was an Issue between Granitedirect and KBBC (KBBC basically not paying on orders) in the end I had to chase for a refund (which took a futher two weeks and me having to drive to their office in enfield from SW London to pick up a cheaque because their "Accounts manager" Could not make transfers. All in all the worst costomer service I have ever know. No calls back. no help. Just lies at every Corner. Even emailed the CEO.... no response. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!

I can concur everything about this company. A catalogue of disasters from day one. Installation in the summer of 2011 by Christmas leaks were discovered behind the sink resulting in demolishing the units and rebuilding the wall of our new house! The water softener was fitted incorrectly and the first team of fitters left kinks in the copper piping. two months ago one of the wall units fell off the wall! Potentially a lethal incident. In spite of all this, the company are very reluctant to accept responsibility and are snail like in repairing the damage.

I agree - worst people I have had to deal with. I prevailed with all the issues I had with them. Cost me time and money. Just wish I had cancelled my order. I now live with a second rate kitchen that just reminds me how stupid I have been. Never again will I purchase any kitchen. For me its down to Wickes and buy a tin of cupboard paint - now tha'ts real value for money and hassel free.

“Never ever again use KBBC”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Sali16 on 04/11/2013

I have ordered kitchen from KBBC as their reviews are very high. Unfortunately, in reality it is far to be true. I had a very bad experience with this company. I was pleased with the designer but after we signed all the paper work the nightmare started. Kitchen arrived without any notice, thanks God I was at home that day. Otherwise we would be charged £250 for re-delivery. All the parts were lying in my house for a week while installers came, then some parts were missing, the handles were damaged. During installation guys found some designer/surveyor mistakes. It took a week (I was calling every day to KBBC) for a granite company just to come and to take a template for the worktop. And at the end I realized that the first installment had been taken from my bank account without written month notice and without having my kitchen. I was calling customer service but they never resolved any of my issue, only promise to call me back that happened once out of 10. I wrote a letter to customer service director, as well, no luck to contact me to discuss an issues. I would not recommend this company to anyone. PLEASE THINK TWICE before going ahead with KBBC. Read MONEY SAVING EXPERT reviews that seem to be true. Everyone can make a mistake and if you communicate everything can be solved in a nice way but this company seems do not care about you because they already have the amount of 10% for your kitchen and you had been pushed in a corner. My statement is true and do not wish to anyone to experience such a poor service.

“Total disaster”

written by hoppy1954 on 25/10/2013

After ordering our kitchen in June and agreeing a start date of 18th July it all went downhill fast. Late delivery left us with no cooking or washing facilities for 2 weeks. When it was delivered it got worse. Curved unit doors did not fit the units, end panels were of the wrong finish, a 520mm deep unit came 600mm deep. The unit was corrected by the fitters at once but the panels and curved units took a further 2 weeks to replace. When they arrived the panels were fitted but the curved units were wrong again. On the third attempt the units fitted but then the pelmet and cornice were found to be wrong. This is still ongoing over 3 months after the start date. Their idea of customer care is a joke. I would not give any recommendation to anyone to use this company, just a warning, do NOT have any work done by KBBC

“Worst customer service ever. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Lozzz31 on 13/10/2013

When we decided to have a new kitchen fitted I did a lot of research. After all, it's not every day you make such a major purchase and this was going to cost in excess of £20,000. I checked reviews and visited a number of companies and finally decided to go with KBBC. I thought that my kitchen would surely be safe in the hands of a company with such fantastic reviews. We live in Worthing in East Sussex and we drove up to the showroom in North London one Sunday to have a look at the quality of the kitchens which was very good. Whist there, we arranged for a designer to come and measure up and design our new kitchen for us. A week or so later the designer arrived. He seemed to understand exactly what I wanted and included everything that I'd requested in the plans. He gave us a price, which was quite high compared with other kitchen companies that we'd looked at, but we decided that we wanted a quality kitchen as it was going to have to last a long while so we decided to go ahead with KBBC. I wish now that I had never heard of this company. They have been absolutely awful. For some months now I've sat at home and cried with frustration trying to get some response from them to the queries I've raised since having my kitchen fitted. I have to say that I'm happy with the quality of the kitchen units and the appliances but I would advise anyone who asked my opinion not to have any dealings whatsoever with this company. Once they have your money, if anything goes wrong they totally ignore you. They simply don't want to know. The kitchen fitters, arranged by KBBC, arrived in March, and quickly took out the old kitchen. They worked long hours and soon made progress but the work was shoddy and the plans drawn up by the architect weren't followed properly. This resulted in a run of units which overlapped with a low window in my kitchen so that you could see the back of the dishwasher through the window from outside. It looked ridiculous but the fitters said it couldn't be changed. I reported it to KBBC but they weren't interested. There were a number of other problems: The fitting of the pelmets along the wall cupboards was messy. They didn't line up properly. The fridge freezer which they'd included in their design and supplied, just about fitted in the space but the doors didn't open fully enough for us to open the drawers fully and they couldn't be removed for cleaning. The wooden worktops were badly sealed and had blotches of different colour where joins had been put in. The tap was cheap and tacky and fell apart each time we used it - it still does. Worst of all, we didn't receive a part p certificate to say that the electrical installation had been tested and was safe and I have no faith that the fitter who did the electrical work was qualified to do it. A week after the fitters left, two pieces of the corner cupboards that had been glued together fell off. Overall, the fitting of the kitchen was finished to an appalling standard. I contacted KBBC to explain about the problems and this is where the frustration started. I emailed the office and got a reply to say it was being looked into. Then I heard nothing for a couple of weeks so I emailed again. I heard nothing again so tried calling and was assured that the case would be passed to a manager. I waited a couple more weeks and then contacted them again and was told that it had been passed to a manager and would be chased up. So I waited another couple of weeks and then contacted them again and they arranged for an inspector to visit to see the problems. The inspector came and wrote a report. He agreed with our comments and promised to file a report as soon as possible. We waited for a couple of weeks and heard nothing so I chased again and got an apology. KBBC said that they would arrange for the fitters to return and do remedial work. I waited for a couple of weeks and heard nothing again so I called again and was told that it would be chased up. This went on for months. One of the fitters finally returned and did some of the remedial work, to a very poor standard, but we've not seen them since and many of the problems are still outstanding. So I contacted KBBC again and, after weeks of emails and phone calls they arranged for the inspector to return. Again, he agreed that there were still problems that needed sorting out. This visit was around three weeks ago and I've heard nothing since. It's now October - 7 months after having the kitchen fitted. We still have pelmets that don't line up, a fridge freezer with drawers that don't open fully and can't be easily removed, a tap that falls apart at least two or three times a day, ugly joins on corner cupboard doors that totally spoil the look of the kitchen and no certificate to prove that the electrical installation is safe. I have never been more appalled with the standard of customer service that I've received from any company as I am with this one. I know that they have excellent reviews (although I did find a couple of reviewers that suggested that KBBC had found a way to remove poor reviews) If you are considering having a new kitchen fitted, my advice would be AVOID KBBC KITCHENS LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Update as of 21stJanuary 2014:

The day that I posted my original review, copied above, to this website I received an email from the Customer Services Manager of KBBC. It apologised for the poor service that I had received from the company and assured me that all of the problems (of which there were many) would be sorted out and that I would be 100% satisfied with my kitchen. It also offered to extend my kitchen guarantee to ten years but, in return, I was asked to remove my review from this website.

Around half an hour later I received a call from the managing director who stated that he would personally ensure that I was completely satisfied with my new kitchen and that he would give me a 25 year guarantee and replace anything that became damaged in the future free of charge, for example worktops etc. He also offered that KBBC would do any further work that I required at cost price and even offered to enhance my kitchen at no extra cost. His exact words to me were “what did you want to have done with your kitchen that you couldn’t afford?”. He inferred that he would arrange for this to be done free of charge. Again, in return, he asked me to remove my review which, he said, was very damning. Yes – it was. That was the whole point.

I explained that all I wanted was for my kitchen to be fitted correctly, as per the architects plan, and for the fitting errors to be corrected. I agreed to remove my review temporarily in order to give KBBC time to get the problems corrected.

Some of those problems have now been corrected but there are still a number of issues outstanding 4 months later. Because the original fitters did such a poor job KBBC have had to order a replacement door, from a different company, to fit a non-standard space that the fitters left. The door arrived in the post this week, four months later, and miracle of miracles - it’s the correct size. However, it’s the wrong colour and the wrong design.

Please avoid this company. I have no proof other than my own experience but I strongly believe that they offer incentives to customers to get them to remove poor reviews and that is the only reason why their rating is as high as it is.

How I wish I had gone to B&Q for my new kitchen. It would probably have been just as good quality, a third of the price and would have saved me an inordinate amount of stress and upset.

Localfoodie's Response to Lozzz31's Review

Completely agree. They refuse to speak to just the female person of the household. The other half has to bet there too. So what about single parents! Interesting, that we had the same experience almost on the same day!

That's appalling! Did you give them a poor review? Anybody who's not happy with the service this company provides should rate them low to bring their high review average down. Then, hopefully, fewer potential customers will make the mistake that we made!

“"Do It All Don" did a fabulous job!!”

★★★★★

written by SButcher on 25/06/2013

I have to say that this has been the easiest purchase we have made for a long time. We were VERY badly let down by another kitchen company and after waiting 6 months for installation they finally admitted they had lost our order........Spotted KBBC on the internet and read the reviews available. Slightly dubious about the high ratings but went to the showroom for a look around anyway. The next day the rep was there, three days later the surveyor and within 3 weeks "Don" arrived bright and early to fit our kitchen. He was alone but worked really hard. He was extremely pleasant, thorough and generally fitted in with our day to day life. He was fab. He made the kitchen come to life and custom built some units to fit an odd area of the kitchen which look brilliant. We nicknamed him "Do It All Don" because nothing seemed like too much trouble. He ended up tiling and laying a floor for us too. I would recommend him as a fitter but would pre-warn customers to take out shares in PG Tips if they have him as he could easily get an Olympic record for tea drinking. Apart from that the units are fantastic quality and the service has been brilliant. Many thanks KBBC.

“Sliding wardrobes”

★★★★★

written by trendyboy on 25/06/2013

KBBC fitted our home with sliding robes and they are excellent. We had quotes from Sharp and hammonds but the KBBC robes had a full cabinet behind not just the wall like the other quotes. The price was the same but the fact that they had cabinets was a real bonus. Nice people to do business with.

“This is the company to use if you want something exclusive”

★★★★★

written by MicheyM on 15/06/2013

Most of the kitchens on the internet are usually very similar. From Ikea to Magnet B&Q Tescos they are all very similar. If you want a Kitchen thats trut bespoke like I did then KBBC are the company for you. I had my Kitchen made in a bespoke paint colour in the door style I wanted with a mettalic finish. The cost was reasonable. The service very good and the quality is 5 star. Look at the Couture range, very spectacular. Thank you for all the extras.

“Wonderful Kitchen rom KBBC”

★★★★★

written by ALchambers0 on 15/06/2013

It was very important to give praise when its due. Today our Kitchen was completed and it looks amazing. All the features that I requested were integrated into the design. The appliances are all black and the whole kitchen is a dream. I had a lot of building work before the kitchen was instaled and the whole transformation is beyond words. Thank you to everyone at KBBC.
