“Deceitful pricing and poor service - avoid!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Edenn443 on 20/07/2015

Purchased a kitchen from howdens after receiving a breakdown of prices and going into branch to have kitchen designed. After taking delivery of kitchen our fitter said we had been oversold panels that we didn't need totalling £100's. When attempting to return them, we were told they only cost £1 as that's what they were 'booked out at' - also told this is their normal practice as people always return those panels!!! Have since found out 3 colleagues have also had same issue! Avoid at all costs - deceitful, over priced and appalling after sales service. Have also been told as I don't have an account with them we can't even log a complaint. Have reported to trading standards re: non existent pricing policy.

I had the same issue, my quote showed I was paying £85 per panel, when I returned 2 panels I was offered a refund of £10!! How is this right, i paid them direct but as it went through my builder they told me I'd just paid his account and when I requested a copy of the invoice they refused and told me it had gone to the builder, I feel like they have ripped me off I too have reported them to trading standards. Avoid at all cost!! You have been warned

As above, they cannott change the price it was booked out at after the invoice has been issued, it's impossible as there is invoice numbers.

Perhaps the quote before wasn't the final price, hence the difference between the estimate figure and invoice figures?

Prices aren't disclosed because they're a trade company. If your builder gives you authorisation though, you can use their account.

Basically, you bought the panels for a £1, so you get a refund for a £1. It's impossible to give a refund for something for more than it is actually purchased for.
