I had a terrible experience today with Betta Living. I was visited by a pushy sales representative who gave me a quote which was way over my budget, and was pushing hard for me to sign today. I liked the design, but being over budget I was not prepared to make a snap decision, I needed to look at my budget first. It was an evening visit, and by 10.30pm, my 5 year old was falling asleep on my lap and I said that I was not prepared to make a decision now, but would sleep on it and call in the morning. The salesman became rude, and said that it was a waste of his evening and that he had other customers he could have been visiting, adding that they value customers who take their services seriously. I understand that anyone can have an off day, or make a regretful comment, but even after I told him that I felt he was being rude, he continued. All this happened with my 5 year old in my arms, which was extremely distressing!

I will be calling the company to lodge a formal complaint. To be insulted like that just because I refused to part with over 6k there and then is completely unprofessional. A lucky escape with this company. Steer well clear!

Update:

After contacting customer services and complaining about the designer, I was called back within the hour by a regional sales manager. He was keen to hear about what had happened directly, as the designer I had complained about was one of his direct reports. He apologised on behalf of the company and was keen to stress that this was not the experience they wanted for their customers.

He had a kind and sincere manner which made me feel more at ease. I'm happy to say that I have had a much more positive experience of the company since dealing with him, and I have been assured that the individual designer that I had complained about had been dealt with. Although it would not be appropriate to post the full details, I was happy that a suitable course of action had been taken.

I felt like my concerns had been treated seriously, and after a few conversations I felt comfortable to trust the company to install my bedroom furniture. As a good will gesture, the company ensured I was able to get the bedroom I wanted within budget.

I am happy to say that I believe my initial experience was a one-off and that it was not representative of my subsequent experiences. I will reserve full judgement until the wardrobes are in, but I will then post a further update. If my recent experiences are anything to go by then I am expecting it to be a positive one.

Thank you Bettaliving for taking the time and effort to make amends, and I'm looking forward to my new lovely bedroom furniture.
