As I write this I am about to return the 3rd replacement Swan SK1115 I have had. The on off switch on this kettle is not up to the job. The 4 kettles I have had have all developed faults with the switch, from not operating at all to operating prior to boiling. I agree with a previous reviewer that the kettle when new taints the water.

This Swan SK1115 kettle has been my worst purchase for a long time, it takes forever to boil and another age to knock off once its reached boiling point, the handle is so awkward to hold it must have been designed for the hand of a gorilla. But the worst thing is the water seems to me to have a plastic aftertaste even after being boiled and the water thrown away and boiled again a few times it still taints the drinks.

The kettle does get hot due to the stainless steel construction which is to be expected. The stainless steel exterior requires regular cleaning as water marks will form.
