The site is plagued by amateur, cheapskate job postings, and clients that expect the job to be completed way below the minimum wage level. PPH also has a woefully inadequate upload and storage system for your portfolio.
PPH constantly allows potential clients to post jobs with one or two word descriptions which is very annoying and leaves you having to chase for more details which gets very tedious after the first couple of dozen times.
I have personally along with main other providers nagged PPH to change its system, it would only be a case of not allowing a job posting without a minimum number of words in the title and description boxes, but this like everything else falls on deaf ears. In a similar vein PPH should have a minimum job fee the clients are allowed to pay which reflects the fact that the clients are trying to hire professional providers.
I have been registered with another freelance site for a period of a year (no names mentioned, I don't want to attract competition) and have been awarded 35 jobs for a fantastic level of pay, all at the same time as PPH was going through it daily diet of drivel for no jobs awarded!
My advice, steer well clear, there are much better sites out there!

I agree with you that peopleperhour is plagued by amateur, cheapskate job postings.... But I would like to add that it is also plagued by amateur, cheapskate staff who they call 'ninjas' The propleperhour ninjas don't know the word sorry exists, they can block providers without bothering to send an email notification. The rude ninja is probably the owner of the company or thinks that way. He blocked me 'for security reasons' when I was travelling out of the country without informing them!
