I purchased a silver bracelet and necklace for my husband. I asked if I could return the necklace if my husband did not want to wear it. He has never worn a necklace. The assistant said yes I had 14 days in which to return it she did not point out that it would be an exchange or credit note which I anticipated she should have done as obviously I would not have purchased the necklace but would have purchased the bracelet as he wears a gold one. I returned the necklace to another branch only to be told that they did not give refunds only an exchange or credit note. I must admit the sales assistant was very helpful and gave me a form to fill in for their head office. I e-mailed the head office only to be told that they do not give refunds only an exchange or credit note. I did point out in my e-mail that I felt the sales assistant had misled me by saying I could return the necklace. I find that you can tell how good a company is by how it handles customer complaints and Warren James fell far short of the standard I would expect from a good company in that I had been misled by the sales assistant in not telling me their returns policy. The head office pointed out that I should have read the terms of their policy before purchasing. Since I have returned to a shop I have noticed that their terms are on a wall as you come out of the shop. Nevertheless I returned the necklace to another shop and felt like a criminal because at least three sales assistants examined the necklace to find something wrong with it so I would be unable to return it. I now have a credit note for £89 and for six months only to be able to buy from the shop I took the necklace back to and there is nothing else I want to purchase from Warren James so it is a case of use it or loose it. They will not be getting my custom again nor anyone else I know. Unfortunately they have lost a customer who has brought from them before and never returned anything but will never again purchase from them.
