Click below to read car reviews of the Jaguar S Type . At Review Centre we have thousands of reviews of cars including other Jaguar makes and models, both new and used, like the Jaguar X Type, the Jaguar E Type and the Jaguar XJS.
The S type is famous for its distinctive styling - the bold grille and famous raked bonnet. Its an engineering masterpiece. Current models include the high performance 4.2-litre V8 supercharged engine, Jaguars most potent production engine, delivering an exhilarating 400 hp. Constructed in light compacted Graphite Iron, the S-Types twin turbocharged diesel engine manages reasonable fuel efficiency of 41.5 mpg on basic models as well as high performance. Features include Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) as standard on all models; as well as Sat Nav, Bluetooth, Adaptive Cruise Control, quality upholstery, fine leathers, highly polished wooden veneers or contemporary aluminum. The plush, leather seats of SE models feature colour-keyed upper facia and door top rolls, and leather trimmed four spoke steering wheel. Luxury redesigned classic leather seats are on all SE models, available with optional distinctive satin mahogany veneer. Apart from the hefty prices the only other downside is that S-Type insurance groups start at group 14 and rise to group 19, only one below the most expensive rating of 20. The modern S Type is set to be discontinued in 2008 UK and replaced with a more contemporary looking vehicle so get one while you can.

Had my Jag (3.0 SE. 2000) for 2 years now and still love it to bits. Comfort, style and power are the trade marks of Jags and the S Type does not fail in any area. I get 32mpg on motorways doing a constant 80mph, around town 19-22mpg. Do not buy a car with 240 bhp and moan about the petrol consumption. I read the reviews before buying and did have reservations but still bought one because I've always wanted one. I'm glad I did. It has been a joy to drive and own. Mine has been very reliable ...

I kill cars, its nothing personal when I get in em they fall apart and generally they don't like me. So last July I thought I would try to buy something a bit sturdier. I live 4 miles from work so the badge "V8" was not a worry. In fact when you push the faster pedal the badge is a delight. There is no delay just a swift arrival at gargantuan pace possible to have a refined conversation at over one thirty, so I am told. I smile when I drive it it feels like it wont dare let me down and I find ...

Overall I like jaguar better than BMW even mercedes, you can compare the s-type with SL500 mercedes, and it does go to 60MPH in 6 seconds.

As I have said above love the Jaguar, is there really a perfect car out there? Surely all cars have some faults?

The Jaguar S Type is an excellent car and I would buy another one but as Jaguar are about to stop making them I have put down a refundable deposit on an XF, if I decide not to go for an XF (unlikely) then I would certainly go for a newer second hand S-Type, although to reduce the risk of expensive repairs I would recommend extending the warranty which although is not cheap is definitely good value for ...
