Daimler is a division of Jaguar Cars Limited. In 1960 Daimler was sold to Jaguar. Also, confusingly, the name Daimler is used by two completely separate groups of car manufacturers. Daimler became the official transportation of Royalty in 1898. So you are in good company if you drive one. The Queen of England has a few also. The British Daimler company has also been heavily involved with the production of military transport, including tanks, especially during World War Two; and after the war, buses. Since 1960 the name Daimler continues to be used to for high end top-line XJ Jaguar cars. As of 2007 British Daimlers production is limited to only one model, the Daimler Super Eight, a superb luxury limousine. British Daimlers are sold under a different name in the US to avoid confusion with the Daimler Chrysler Corporation.
