Just applied for a mortgage with first direct - it is a painful process with them and I would not really recommend them for this. Communication is very poor and have been lied to about outstanding issues which will cause a delay to completing the mortgage

I bank with first Direct and generally they are good, even though their interest rates for savings are awful, they have a good regular saver account at 8%
