“CANT PAY IN EVEN TO SANTANDER - who OWN CAHOOT ! TERRIBLE”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Rapid-Rich on 27/08/2023

I tried to pay in £500 cash via the Post Office with my Cahoot/ Santander plc Paying In book and was refused even though Ive done this before. i was sent to a Santander Branch (who own Cahoot) and after queing 25 mins, them checking my details !!! .. they then said they cant find my account as its Cahoot ... even though it says Santander plc on the paying in book. I left the £500 on the Counter with the Paying In slip and told them to sort it. Big Mistake ... I satill have not had this £500 paid in over 3 weeks later. I refuse to make another 40 mile round trip and 20 minute walk to the Sheffield Branch. Ive trid calling Santander, the Branch, Cahoot, Ive complained to the CEO .... STILL NOT GOT MY MONEY. This Bank actually said Cahoot was not part of them even though Cahoot call from a Number which says Santander called you !!! Worst Bank Ive ever dealt with .... but that is also SANTANDER

“Terrible customer Services”

★☆☆☆☆

written by loo123 on 17/07/2023

I have had a Current Account with Cahoot for many years Unfortunately I had allowed my Debit Card to go out of date without noticing. I contacted their Head Office, by phono, in Bradford where I was told to supply copies of my Passport photo along with a invoice statement to prove that I lived at the address they have for me. I was also informed that I had not registered for online banking although I had used the account for the last ten years or so and therefore i had to obtain a security code to get into my account. I posted all the necessary details a month ago and still have not had any response and still unable to use my account.

“Cahoot Don't Care”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MPhilB on 23/02/2023

After numerous issues accessing my account over the years like having the interest on a 5% savings account reduced to zero and an overdraft cancelled without any prior discussion, my latest issue is with the ridiculous OTPs that are needed to even login. Apparently this is the only method offered by the bank to access your account securely. I can't remember receiving the memo about the introduction of OTPs either. The problem is when they don't come through--for whatever reason--no-one is able to offer any explanation or provide any solution and it seems like they don't want to accept any responsibility either as there is no follow-on support. I'm currently abroad and unable to access an account that I use for receiving payments. I'm locked out as the OTPS are not coming through. I've spoken to the local service provider (5 times) who assures me the problem is not this end--which I tend to agree with as all other sms mesages are coming through. After 2 expensive calls to operatives of cahoot, no solution was reached and I was left with 'aside from that there's nothing we can do'. NOT good enough. No back-up plan? What kind of 'bank' is this? When I suggested to one of the operatives that if he couldn't help with this he put me onto someone higher who might appreciate the gravity of my situation his remark was 'we don't want to go down that route'. As in the TRUTH? Do not use this bank. I've noticed how bad their ratings are and I'm not surprised based on my own experiences.

“Locked out & Bills not Paid!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by jonwoodhouse on 29/09/2020

Apart from the fact I have been Locked Out of my Account 3 times in 2 weeks, for no good reason! I then have to ring up, and put on hold for ages, before I get to talk to anyone! Bills I thought had been paid, have turned out to be not paid. I have now been charged £20 by Amex for Late Payment, even though I thought I had paid it online. I thought I had paid a friend £1500, and that has not been paid either. Cahoot have been useless! I am now thinking of closing my Account!

“Can't easily pay a cheque in”

★☆☆☆☆

written by CaitlynBruce on 15/01/2018

I rang the Cahoot "Helpdesk today to ask if I could still pay a cheque into my account via a post office. The dumb & irresponsible idiot on the phone told me that I could without mentioning that I need to take some paperwork that I do not have (A paying in slip) as the equally dumb and irresponsible post office do not keep these paying in slips. This is truly moronic. I rang Cahoot to complain and was told that it could take up to two weeks for the paying in slip to arrive at my house. You really could not make this utter rubbish up! Obviously it's beyond the wit of these two organisations to keep whatever paperwork is required at the place where it is required - the post office. The second helpdesk gave me a different story to the first helpdesk. They told me that it is pointless dealing with the post office and I should just post the cheque directly to Cahoot using the paying in slip that it will take them up to two weeks to provide. Obviously this assumes that: 1. Cahoot are prepared to post the paying in slips to a suitable location. 2. I have such a location available. What if I am travelling outside the UK for example?

“great customer service”

★★★★★

written by znTimmons153 on 09/03/2017

Hi, I had to contact your customer serveice recently as i needed some new new temporary details so i could log onto my account and also a new debit card and P.I.N. number. I would just like to say how very helpful the adviser was that i spoke to. And also how quickly they sent out all these details that i needed. We have been with this bank for many years and have always found them to be extremely effeicent and helpful if we had any problems. So thank you very much for all the help you gave me.

“Terrible customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by TheSpur08 on 10/11/2015

I have been with cahoot for many a year and just recently have been trying to get a change of account form. Twice I tried and twice they promise it will be sent in 5-7 working days, and as yet have I received nothing. Absolutely useless. I am now looking at manually changing to a better bank. Avoid at all costs.

“Never developed and still no banking app”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 06/11/2015

I joined Cahoot because they were one of the first to embrace internet banking. Unfortunately, they never changed or developed, there is not even a banking app! To top it off your site still uses an older cipher suit to encrypt web traffic (months after SHA1 was depreciated) ridiculous that they don't appear to take security seriously.

I've been with Cahoot for many years. I recently was sent a letter saying there was possibly fraudulent activity on my account 2 months before - I rang cahoot - they couldn't give me details - they canceled my card and pin and said they'd send me a knew account card and pin - card arrived 6 days later - still waiting for a replacement pin - over four weeks without access to my bank account - complete lack of interest from Cahoot about their terrible service

“Interest Rates are both Dire and Dangerous”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 21/12/2013

As I read it, I get 1.10% on the current account and it drops to 0.50% on the so called Savings Account. This encourages people to put their money all in the current account to maximise their interest income and that account has to be less secure because if your card gets cloned, you can get cleaned out. Poor practice will lead to poor customers. AVOID

“Still working well”

★★★★☆

written by IFABroker on 14/11/2013

The website is basic but works. The customer service has always been good. We have banked with Cahoot since it started and have never had a single problem with them. We have 2 current and 2 savings accounts on the site which makes it very easy to move money into different pots for saving and bill paying. Don't recommend it purely because no new accounts are available. Fully expect Santander to shut it down eventually.

“Going down but doesn't seem to care”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 17/10/2013

I've been with Cahoot for more years than I care to remember and I've loved using it - but recently I've been locked out of my account by 'General System Errors', screens that tell me laptop is not accepting cookies and so my session has been terminated and a phone service that is permanently in a loop rather than allowing me to carry out transactions. Last time I was locked out I got to speak to someone who advised me to clear my cache and it did work - but this time I've cleared my cache, checked my cookie setting and tried loggin in via 2 other devices - all without success. On top of this I've been sent an email saying a charge has been placed on my account for an unauthorised transaction when my account is showing as being in credit for the last 2 months. It's the last straw..

“Closed on Sunday... ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 03/09/2013

I wanted to buy a car today, so I transferred cash into my cahoot account during the week in plenty of time. I also called them to tell them I was buying a car and could they make sure the transaction was cleared. They said that they had an automatic system which they could not change but if the transaction was not cleared then to call them. No worries. BUT they failed to mention, and I never considered that they might be closed on Sundays... Which means when you have driven 60 miles to the dealer, and come to pay, and the transaction is declined, you can't just call them and sort it out... Because no one is there! What a **** company! Not just embarrassing but costly, as I have to go back again now in the week! I will be leaving cahoot and all other Santander companies.

PLEASE AVOID THIS BANK AT ALL COSTS. I HAD A BOND WHICH MATURED AND FOUND IT VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO ACCESS MY FUNDS. THE WEBSITE PUTS EVERY OBSTACLE IN THE WAY TO RETAIN THE CASH. WHEN YOU GO TO CONTACT US YOU DO NOT EVEN HAVE TIME TO WRITE THE MESSAGE BEFORE YOU ARE TIMED OUT. YOU THEN RING THEM UP AND GET AN ARROGANT STAFF MEMBER TRAINED TO BE AS OBSTRUCTIVE AS POSSIBLE. I AM NOW REPORTING THEM TO THE GOVERNING BODY. BE WARNED AND DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS I HAVE DONE. BEWARE BEWARE

“Is it the worst banking website in the world? ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 02/06/2013

This must be the worst online banking website in the world. I also use First Direct (very good) and Citibank (ok) and two foreign bank accounts that are not great, but Cahoot is like a very amateur website in comparison. I only use it occasionally to take advantage of the 100 pound free overdraft but whenever I need to check my transactions it seems impossible to see them all. It also seems that you cannot look at transactions for the current month, as you can only select previous months dates from the dropdown menu.

“Santander Ruined This Bank”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DanBmthUK on 31/05/2013

I've been with Cahoot since 2002. It's service was excellent until a certain Spanish bank took over. Unfortunately for me, I was a customer of Cahoot, I had a mortgage with Abbey, my business accounts were with Alliance and Leicester Commercial Bank, further personal account with Alliance and Leicester and business mortgages with Abbey Business in Harrow. As you will see, I never chose to bank with Santander, but have ended up with them by default and one by one as each account was integrated into the Spanish behemoth the service deteriorated. Worst still, they're data protection is a joke, letters sent to me with others bank details, debit cards issued to account holders with wrong names, sent letters to addresses moved out of 5 years ago in 2008, business debit cards issued to staff who'd left over 2 years ago. The integration has been a joke and their executive complaints team is the worst I'd ever experienced. Nobody cares, you go round and round in circles. I went to see the local branch manager (Santander) in Poole, to raise a complaint, only to have it cancelled and not responded to for 3 months!!!!! Beware the 'Deed Release Fee' - they held no deeds for me, as it was a new commercial property so they don't exist, yet was charged it and told its an 'account closing admin fee' which of course does NOT appear on their mortgage fee schedule. STEER CLEAR OF THEM AT ALL COSTS otherwise it will cost YOU time and money!!

“WORKS WELL FOR ME”

written by on 19/05/2013

I have been with them for 12 years .I have their credit card ,current account and a personal loan.It has been OK to bank with them but the service has visibly declined since Santander got their hands on it.Since I have no problems withe accounts I have I'm not worried .The £100 free overdraft has been useful and is probably something to recommend it .Also the no hassle £500 overdraft on it is good value at about 13-14% is competitive Living in a rural area the internet banking is a bonus as we do have a Post Office

“Formerly superb, now to be avoided at all costs”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 08/05/2013

Having banked with Cahoot for over a decade, it's sad to think there was a time I'd have recommended them over any other bank without any hesitation at all. Now they are truly deserving of the "terrible" rating. For an online bank, you'd assume they were a good choice for people who primarily shop online. In fact, whilst I appreciate knowing my card is secure against fraud, my husband and I have both had our cards stopped with monotonous regularity - absolutely no warning, notification or explanation. To unlock them, you have to sit in a queue for an extended period of time (the current issue prompting me to finally sit down and review sees my husband at 30 minutes and counting) at your own expense with precious little apology or interest from their end as to why you've been inconvenienced for the umpteenth time without notice. For the cherry on top, where many banks have changed their interest rates in line with the economy, my "savings" account is little more than a second current account, with absolutely no notable interest paid on the money I pay. Absolutely avoid like the plague.

“Completely satisfied”

★★★★★

written by on 26/04/2013

Been with them for years. Live a rural area, get paid by cheque so posting deposits/taking them to the post office works very well for me. Deposit envelopes, paying in books come quickly enough. I was recently very impressed when some suspicious transactions were flagged and I had a phone call within minutes to verify them. They were mine, but they did on reflection have an iffy pattern. Transfers to and from savings accounts with other banks go through quickly. What more could you want?

“A bank that no longer cares”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 25/04/2013

I was with Cahoot for about 6 or 7 years before things started going wrong. Up until that time they were fine. Once Santander started to push it's online services it seems Cahoot has been put in 'maintenance mode'. They're not accepting new customers by the looks of it and they really show no care to current customers. The specifics on my plight was to do with arranging payments. In short their system is broken. I would send two payments off one evening. One of those gets sent normally, the other simply gets set as a future payment ... which never gets processed - even after the date. I plain do not trust them! I would not recommend them. Considering Santander own them (or at least they are affiliated with them) I'd not even consider using Santander either. Heed my words - stay away / leave them now!
