Boring as hell. Action is developing a way to slowly. After reading half of the book almost nothing. No suspense at all.

As an ex-Police Officer myself I find Rankin's books the most believable and along with Reginald Hill and Colin Dexter in authenticity.

All short stories featured in Ian Rankin, A Good Hanging and Other Stories are fantstic! I find the Rebus short stories to be entertaining, and they contribute to readers' understanding of the novels, as they develop the character very effectively.
My favourite is entitled 'Sunday'. It deals with Rebus's state of mind in the aftermath of accidentally stabbing a drug dealer. The story is rich in religious symbolism, used cleverly to explore the theme of guilt. This story is different ...

Ian Rankin, Fleshmarket Close - The new Rebus novel is always an essential purchase for me. Having read & loved all previous Ian Rankin offerings however I couldn't help but be a little disappointed with the plot. A few more twists and a little more drama would not have gone amiss.
That said, it is still a very enjoyable read and a notch above 80% of current crime fiction.
As Rebus nears the end of his career, it will be fascinating to see if Rankin passes the baton to DS Siobhan ...

Ian Rankin, A Question of Blood Review: We are asked to believe that Rebus has become the rogue copper and killed a minor hood. We follow him through the streets helped by his colleague DS Siobhan Clarke, in and out of the pubs and bars of the city, avoiding his suspension and helping to solve another tragic killing and an assumption of a lesser Dumblane.
Remember Rebus was almost forty when he was created in 1987 so whatever he does now is almost by memory, but still well worth reading catch ...
