After trying two older claud butler bikes that i was very pleased with i decided to "splash" out and buy a new one. I got rid of the trusty old silver MB and eagerly awaited delivery of a tarted up and slimmer version. After maybe a hundred miles the cranks have started groaning. I am very disappointed and now have to consider spending 500-800 on something to do the job the claud butler should have been able to do (ie cycle) Plus i have the added inconvenience of sending the thing back by post.

I brought a Urban 400 after having a racer before,I have to say I am very pleased with this bike,it's very light almost,as light infact as my racer was,and the bike is also capable riding very fast, the too smallest coges at the back are extremely tiny,so you can go really fast if you want to.
But unlike a racer it can handle the ruth as well as the smooth.
It is hard to think of any bad points to say about this bike,it is very good all-rounder,smooth light and fast, and comfortable to ride.
Fantastic bike!!

Great bike for the money, looks good and runs well. Has kenda tyres which I have heard bad things about - prone to puntures. Have only had one puncture in my first 100 miles. Gear shift on crank going up can be a little sticky but gets there in the end.
A comparable Giant bike would be another £100 plus pounds so if you are not going to use it day in day out to commute this is a good choice.
Colour is darker red than in the 2010 booklet

Could for racing and not i would bye it and sell it and bye a racing bike. Brillant big wheel at front faster and they are thin tyers. High up wind can hit you and that will slow you down

The Urban 400 is a brilliant bike, I've never had such a good time cycling long distances. It offers a range of high quality parts for the maximum performance. The weight of the bike is great for going fast, also the gears were great and offer a great ride. The tyres offer grip, and are slim, meaning it is quick and safe. The suspension is also very neat, it enables you have an ultra smooth ride, and a bonus it the seat suspension.

I have just bought this Claud Butler Urban 400 Sports Hybrid Bike, after having a Raleigh Town and Comfort, and the Urban 400 knocks spots off the Raleigh in every department. Everything about the bike is right, suspension, gears, comfort; it is definitely worth the extra money over the Urban 200.
Excellent all round bike, can't fault!
