“The best holidays ever! :D<3”

★★★★★

written by MichelleMortensenDK on 07/08/2014

This is one of the best vacations I've ever been at. I've really enjoyed staying at this hotel for a week, and all the bad things we have read about the place is totally wrong in my eyes. The apartment you get is clean, there is a good service, and the owners is very sweet people! I hope I can come back to this hotel some times in the future.

“Not a bad hotel!”

★★★★☆

written by wtStokes331 on 13/06/2014

I went on holiday here June 2013. It was just me and my friend, as it was only a short minute walk from Malia strip it seemed perfect! After our coach driver finally found the hotel which was located along the main road from Malia to Hersonasis, we had to lug our luggage up 3 flights of stairs to get to the hotel. We were then greeted by a women who asked our names and took us to our room (more stairs)! The room was better than I expected! It was clean with extra sheets and towels! I had read some bad reviews so it was better than I expected. There was a shop located on the next road if you cut through the hotel opposite where we purchased toilet rolls etc (they only give you one). All in all it was a really quiet nice family run hotel! We seemed to be the only guests there for a good week or so, we did hear a few arguments from the family when we were on the balcony. I would recommend taking a strong male with you as we got harassed by Greek men a little walking to and from the strip on a night it can get a bit scary! We ended up hiring a quad to drive it as it was a little further than expected but all in all I would recommend as its cheap and cheerful!

“for those who are not all going to leave to sit in the...”

Had a rest with the husband in Crete in the first week of June. Flew AK «YAMAL» from Krasnodar 2 hours and 20 minutes, gripes flight no. The hotel is 30 minutes drive from Heraklion airport to the resort village of Stalis (between Hersonissos and Malia), on upper street. Initially we paid the room studio, however upon arrival we had a great 2 room apartment, designed for 4 people. In the bedroom, Queen size bed, 2 bedside tables, a dressing table, a chair and a mirror, in the other room 2 single beds, bedside table, dressing table, mirror, kitchen corner with a necessary set of ware, kitchen table with two chairs, electric kettle, refrigerator, electric stove; TV, safety deposit box, air conditioning and hairdryer available for a fee. In the corridor big functional wardrobe with shelves and drawers, a lavatory, shower-curtains (hot water constantly), toilet, sink and mirror, toiletries bring youself. From both rooms have a balcony, where there is a table, plastic chairs and a dryer for linen. There is a small pool, which, in connection with the beginning of the tourist season, was completely at our disposal. From the living creatures were seen only mosquitoes in large quantities. The hotel resides mistress (speaks English), her elderly mother (speaks only Greek) and cute white dog named Ira. People are hospitable, friendly. The hotel is suitable for people who prefer a relaxing stay. Youth it is boring, it is better to go in Malia or Hersonissos, full of bars, clubs and discos. The nearest beach is 800 m from the hotel, you need to go either left to nearest underground walkway next to the traffic light and right according to the index on Stalida, or right out of the hotel to the nearest underground link (about 300 m), then left up to the nearest hotel (I think Kyriakos apartments), open the gate, it is not close to the castle and go down the site to beach street, where many taverns, restaurants, shops and beach access. All beaches are municipal, sunbeds and umbrellas pay, we never used them, bought a big umbrella for 7,50 Euro and sunbathing under him. The best, in our opinion, the wide sandy beach is almost reaching to the archaeological site of Malia. Also rented a scooter 50 cubes 12 EUR per day, category A is not needed for it, ride to the nearby villages and beaches. The weather was fine, the day was +28+30 degrees Celsius, in the evening cool, the sea water is about +22 degrees Celsius. Crete is pleasant, it is not as green as Corfu, but it also has beautiful views of the mountains and excellent sandy beaches.

“Okay but would not go back!”

written by on 07/08/2012

Recently just got back off holiday with me and 14 other girls and we stayed here for ten days. From reading reviews before our holiday, we were all very apprehensive! When we first arrived, we were immediately put off by the outside view as it looked dirty and old! However the owner which was a woman who immediately greeted us and took us to our rooms. We did notice she didn't check us in of any sort and just assumed who we were which worried us as we could have been mass murderers or something and they wouldnt have battered an eyelid. All of our rooms were all together and we all shared a terrace which was nice as we were all together. I shared the biggest room with three other girls and we noticed instantly a spare bed in all of our rooms and had come to the conclusion that we had been robbed as we could have saved money on a fourth room! And to top that off, we had to pay 45 euros for the air con and 15 euros for a safe which we were told would be included! The air conditioning was rubbish, as I had the biggest room, we had a bedroom which included two beds and had the air conditioning vent in, the kitchen area with two beds and the bathroom. The room in the kitchen area was unbearably hot to sleep in, me and my friend had to move our mattresses into the bedroom in order to get a good nights sleep! Most of the other girls shared this problem in the other rooms. Our other friend who travelled separately, immediately had to ask the owner to sort out her fridge as it was not working and she said it was covered in rust and was absolutely disgusting! In my room, after each of us showered every night and we noticed a leakage through from the shower to our kitchen area and left a huge flood on our floor every night! Rooms got cleaned twice overall, even though we did our own cleaning as it was disgusting. After reading the reviews, we decided to keep on the right side of the owners for a pleasant stay and they were very polite. However the children who must have been 8 and 10 seemed to run the place. Also, the old man made us feel extremely uncomfortable as everytime we walked past (which was a lot as we spent most of our days at the pool) he would, without fail, would stare at your asses and boobs with great pleasure! Eurgh! Pool was nice, did turn the white bits of our bikinis green and on one occasion our friend turned green because of it! Overall, okay place, had a great holiday but wouldn't recommend!

“Utter Nightmare”

★☆☆☆☆

written by jayesar on 03/08/2011

When we arrived it seemed ok, we were showed to our room by the owner, who seemed pleasant at first). The moment we started unpacking was when it turned bad. The bed sheets were still a bit dirty, there were no spare towels, and the kettle was covered in lime scale and some foul smelling black substance inside. The hob worked, but not very well. The draws and cupboards smelt horrendous almost vomit inducing and this was all realised on the first day. We then asked about how the air con worked in our room as it said on the website that it had aircon, he then informed us it was a 45 euro charge for a week’s use. After we complained the owner then turned rude and grumpy for the week. The hotel is a half hour walk from the strip (not fun when drunk) and the town nearby is about 25 minutes. The pool was covered in dead bugs, which made swimming an uncomfortable experience, also we ran out of toilet paper and he refused to give us another roll telling us to go to town and buy some. The actual hotel had a weird vibe to it, it felt as if we were intruding on a family affair. So all in all, do not stay here, even if it is just a place to crash, like it was for us, it’s not a nice place in the slightest.

“Absolutely Awful, Don't Stay Here”

★☆☆☆☆

written by tjetha123 on 26/07/2011

Arrived at the hotel on the 14th of July 2011 and we were shocked to see that the hotel, first of all was the only one in a row of about 5 hotels adjacent to each other without security, and second of all looked very very cheap. We didnt even get checked in, no names written down, no count to see if everyone was there, all the caretaker (who spoke english pretty well but not very fluently even though he was the only one who could at the hotel) did was check the name on the booking and gave us the key to both of our rooms. When we looked at our rooms (4 bed and 5 bed) the mattresses were awfully uncomfortable, the kitchen was very basic and very poor and pretty much the same for the bathroom which had a toilet, sink, mirror and shower (which had no hot water after about 6pm). The owner was an old man who literally spoke about 3 words of english and his wife, the cleaner, who spoke no english. The rooms got cleaned once in 7 days and on the last day there were even 3 cockroaches in our room. There is a pool but it made the white parts of our swim shorts yellow! The area isnt that good, very hot and you have to pay 45 Euros for air conditioning per room per week which is shocking, and its a bout a 20 min walk to the Malia Strip with all the clubs and about a 30 min walk to the beach even though we were given a quote of 100 metres to get to both, and to top it all off, about 1000 pounds worth of Euros, Pounds and phones was stolen between our room and 2 other rooms we got talking to. The police didn't even bother to come out and said that they couldnt do anything about it... Overall very basic, very cheap, very very low end and even for 311 pounds for 2 rooms for 1 week we could have had a better hotel so whatever you do DO NOT GO THERE, spend that extra bit of money because you will honestly regret it, we did and it actually made us lose one of our friends from the friendship group because we had such a bad bad bad time staying there. The only thing that saved the holiday for us was the good times walking down the strip the clubs and going into the clubs and meeting loads of new people. Oh and the quadbikes were jokes (15 Euros for the bike and 15 Euros for insurance per day). Malia is a brilliant place but if you want to enjoy it then in all seriousness DO NOT STAY here. If you do go to Malia and dont stay here then you should have a good time.

“I stayed here in August 2008 for one week with 3...”

written by will23 on 22/08/2008

I stayed here in August 2008 for one week with 3 friends. We paid 500 each and traveled with budget travel. It is mainly a family place, however I felt very sorry for those families as this place wasn't the best. The rooms are shabby with what can only be described as a very poor mans George Foreman grill sitting in the corner as your kitchen. We had no seats or couch or anything in our room only 5 beds which we were meant to use one as a couch. The shower head had no holder and there was no hot water after 12 midday which meant a shower in the evening after sweating in the baking sun was impossible. The rooms didn't appear to get cleaned during the week we there. We only get 1 toilet roll. When we came in at 6am in the morning the old man who speaks no English started shouting as us again about being out late. Madness! There ' s no reception so even if we wanted a drink of water you had to go looking for a member of staff and then spend the next ten minutes explaining to them what you wanted. With 4 lads in our apartment, they only gave us one key for the room which was a nightmare. Location: it ' s right on the main road between Hersonasis on one side and Malia on the other. This road is like a motorway with seemingly no speed limit in existence. To get to the nearest shop it takes about 15 min, 20 mins to walk to the beach and to hersonasis 10 mins in taxi and to malia about 5 or 6 mins taxi. Overall I would never ever stay in this apartment again.

“I know this is long but trust me - it will tell you...”

★★☆☆☆

written by jamesgalton on 06/09/2007

I know this is long but trust me - it will tell you everything you NEED to know.

The owners of the Litsa & Efi Apartments are some of the most unsympathetic, untrustworthy and unhelpful human beings I have ever met! I went on a 7 day holiday to Crete 'on the cheap' with 4 mates (all 21 year-old blokes), so you can imagine we weren't exactly fussy when it comes to accommodation. The apartments are well located; very close to local supermarkets, the beach and nearby tavernas and small bars. If you are looking for a place to fall after to going out in Malia every night then this place isn't ideal but it is only a short taxi ride away or a half hr walk along a busy road (taxi recommended - not fun finding way home on foot at night, drunk).
Anyway, back to the apartments themselves. You will only be provided with one bog roll for the week (not much to ask for is it?) and the sheets will not be changed during a stay of 7 nights or less (get grubby quickly when you sweat like a pig in the heat). DO NOT buy any food from the bar, only drinks (was heaving just looking at a mates' burger which later actually did make him vomit). The rooms are tidied virtually every day which I suppose is good (but this mostly only consists of having your minging sheets and towels folded and scraping any of your stuff on the floor to the sides of the room - also the 'paper you wipe with' bin is occasionally emptied, that is if you remember not to flush it in the first place).
Don't bother trying to cook anything on the hobs unless you are only intending to slightly soften some butter - seriously, the balcony gets hotter.
The pool is OK, open from 8 til 8 and nice to cool down and relax in/by, just watch out for the sharp bits of tile on the pool floor and on the side near the lights that I and another of my friends made our feet bleed on.
Finally, back to the owners of the hotel. When the 5 of us returned from another amazing night out in Malia at around 6am, we found both our adjacent rooms had been forced into and we had been robbed. Money, iPods and mobiles were stolen. Upon hastily informing the owners we were met by what can only be described as nonchalant shrugs. I shit you not - they would not even let us use a phone to contact the police, merely pointing to the horizon suggesting that the police station was "somewhere over there"? Returning from the police station hours later, having had no sleep, we were shortly to be removed from our rooms at midday with no allowances made for the mornings break-in. The owners continued to argue with us and other guests who became involved when hearing about our misfortune and being equally agitated by the owners' attitude. One of my friends was even threatened by the more elderly owner to have his throat cut, later being actioned at by sharpening knives behind the bar!
That said, aside from the service at these apartments, they are well situated for a girls/lads bender of a holiday. Malia is superb and I didn't want to leave! I would absolutely not recommend these apartments for families. Peace to Crete.

These apartments were amazing, very clean and the owners were very helpful and friendly! The pool and the place itself were clean, there was always someone around if you needed anything! Absolutely recommend these apartments to anyone, we are so happy that we are revisiting Litsa and Efi in August!

There were many steps to Litsa and Efi Apartments. The beds had springs poking through. Linen was changed only once during two week's stay - some torn and had to be replaced. Hot water only between 4.30.pm and 5.30.pm. Poor lighting - inadequate for reading/make-up and shaving. Plumbing poor, maid service almost non-existant. Pool looked dirty.

We will not go back to Litsa and Efi Apartments if you paid me. Crete is the best place for a holiday, Stalis is fun, people great but this hotel is the pits.

“The holiday first started with us being the last drop...”

written by Happiness on 29/03/2005

The holiday first started with us being the last drop off to Litsa and Efi Apartments. There were lots of stairs leading up to the apartment. The next day we had a drink at the bar and looked round but the balcony was made from wood and wasn't stable at all. Because I had children I asked for us to be moved to a ground floor apartment, so the following day we did. When bringing back food to our apartment (we were self catering), the owner looked down at our bags and you could tell he didn't like us not eating their bar food. Later that week we had a barbecue which was set up by the hotel owner but the starter wasn't like a salad because we only got lettuce and when it come to our meal being served they had run out of chicken.
