Tortworth Court is not easy to find, but well worth the hunt! It is a magnificent Victorian 'Gothic style' mansion, set in wonderful grounds with over 600 specimen trees.
From the moment you walk in, you relax. The atmosphere is extremely friendly, with incredibly polite staff. We received an upgrade without asking and the room was fabulous in all respects, including cleanliness - not a spot of dust anywhere. This is reflected throughout the hotel, with the spa facilities being superb, particularly the indoor pool.
We had booked for breakfast and dinner, the latter being as formal as you want to make it. An enormous choice for breakfast and a sumptuous dinner menu. I would recommend the wild mushrooms on toasted brioche as a starter - it was so good that I had it both nights!
The hotel provides an excellent gateway to the Cotswolds as well as Gloucester and Bath. There are many delightful little towns nearby and all worth a visit.
If you want to relax and be pampered, then this is certainly the venue to go to. We were given our Red Letter Day Experience and without doubt it was the best present we have had.
