“Welcoming, wonderful & worth a visit”

We booked a weekend for 14 of us 3 to 5 January 2014 at The Grosvenor Hotel in Torquay, in honour of our mum's 80th birthday. She had sadly passed away a few months before, but we decided to go away as a family in order to celebrate her life. Every single member of staff were unbelievably helpful & pleasant when booking & throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We paid a very reasonable price for 2 nights bed & breakfast & our age ranges were 3 to 66. We were in refurbished rooms & they were lovely. Some of us were upgraded at no extra cost. My daughter's family room was fantastic. Loads of space for them & 2 boisterous kids. Everyone loved the pool & gym. We had bar food on the first night & as well as being reasonably priced, it was excellent. We were surprised that there was a singer both nights. This was a plus as we didn't expect any entertainment at all. On the Saturday night, we booked a restaurant table for all of us. The meal & service was excellent. The 3 course meal was £15.95 with great choices. The service was brilliant. We also stayed for the Sunday lunch before going home. That was worth going to the hotel for even if we weren't staying there. We are already planning a return visit & would recommend this hotel to anyone. In my opinion, the only negative was that there are parts of the hotel still in need of updating, although this was clearly being done. We expected much less for what we paid but got so much more. I cannot wait to go back, either as a couple or in a group.
