As my friend and I are pensioners we agreed to share a room for a two night stay in Travelodge Windsor. We thought the special deal of £57.89 for the room for 2 nights was reasonable value even if the hotel was basic and below standard. We had a 'family' room which had a double bed and a sofa in it so one of us had to have the sofa and one the bed.
During the first nights stay we were both woken up by a lot of shouting and yelling from outside even though we were on the 6th floor.
On our return home I found, on my bank statement, that I had been charged twice which then made our stay expensive for the quality of the hotel.
It was dificult to get in touch with the company as my first e-mails were ignored. I finally received a reply from Anne Phippen who told me I had booked twice. After several E-mails back and forth along the lines of 'no I didn't' and 'yes you did' I eventually gave up.
It left me wondering if this had happened to other Travelodge guests, who, even if they do check bank statements and find two charges there is not much that can be done to get your money back.
