Friends and I went to London for the MCM Expo as we have done for the past 3 years. We normally stay at Premiere Inn, but were unfortunately duped into booking with Travelodge instead. I dreaded it immediately, but what could I do? We turned up at 1pm and waited 2 hours to be checked in as I wasn't about to pay their "book in an hour early" charge. The room was filthy, not to mention just plain tired looking. Things appeared to have been ripped off the walls and the remnants of the adhesives were just left there. The bath stained from bubblebath solution, suggesting an overal lack of hygeine. Bins were badly dressed with bags making putting rubbish in them rather difficult. Although we had one grotty pillow each and two towels between the three of us, we had plenty of pubic hairs left in the bathroom to share. If those truly are Travel Lodge's standards of cleanliness, I will never stay there again. Oh and one more thing. I know I left my camera charger in the room, so to tell me just a few hours later that it hasn't been found is either an outright lie or you have some serious problems amongst your staff. It cost me £40 to replace the charger in the end. Considering the fact that the room was awful, there's no baggage checks and there is a charge for parking, to then charge over £150 for two nights was just a big slap in the face and a stomp on the foot. I'll recommend Travel Lodge alright, to people I really, really dislike.
