Premier Inn, Whitstable:
The beds are comfortable and my room was spotlessly clean. However, it was atrociously noisy, and, when I looked out the window the motorway was directly below.
The price for this small, extremely noisy room was 100 pounds a night!
When I visited my friend's room, FOR WHICH THEY HAD ALSO PAID 100 POUNDS A NIGHT, it was double the size of mine. It was also quiet as it was on the side away from the motorway.
At reception I asked for another, quieter room, or, failing that, a reduction in price for my assigned room.
I was told I should have expected noise as they alleged they informed customers they were right on the motorway. I was never informed of that fact. Not the answer I hoped for.
After my insisting on either a reduction in price or another room and speaking with the manager--twice-- I was given a room equal to that of my friends.
Why had they given me a bad room when they had a decent room available? Why had it taken my persisting until I got a decent room when it was available all along?
Again, I suggested to them that I could share a room with my two friends if no other room was available.
However I was told that it was their policy to never have three adults in a room as it was 'against fire regulations'.
Goodness, the youngest of us is 75 years old! And, two months earlier my friends had shared a room with their adult sun. I doubt they were honest with me.
They were certainly NOT respectful. I will never stay with them again.
