“Review of online Safeguarding for vulnerable adults course”

There was a lot of information to absorb which if you read it all would take forever. Mostly Acts of Parliament. The rest of the information was easy to absorb and I liked the review questions at the end of each section. It was good that you could do each section, save it and return to it at a later date. The method of online testing, showing you your score as you go, was useful. I also like the fact that you didn't have to wait for your results and could print out your own certificate. (read more)

Overall the course was very informative, and well thought out. I do feel however that it should have been noted on the website that links throughout the course are not working, though I was told by a customer service agent that the links do not have to be included in the course as specific course material, to falsely sell an online course with content missing regardless of the form it is in, I was disappointed on clicking on the links to discover the PDFs had been removed! At the time of release all links are valid and we regularly review modules and update any website links that have changed. Unfortunately, we have no control over any websites other than our own and it is possible for links to change at any time. I am so pleased that I found the Virtual College and was able to complete the Food and Hygiene (Catering) Course online between my 'every day' job. I found the course most interesting, but was quite surprised that the test as the end was as short as it was. I was expecting it to be quite difficult but as long as you remember the basics regarding hygiene, the facts regaring the various forms of bacteria, temperatures for heating and chilling etc., you will enjoy the course. I applied for a new job knowing that i had this certificate a few years ago but alas i think my previous employers must have it and are no longer running. So i was thrilled to see that this facility was available and at such a good price and be able to print it off myself so my new employers could see. After being a little apprehensive about taking a course (first since leaving school), I was pleasantly surprised at how simply the whole course is laid out & navigated. The graphics & interactivity help to cement the information into your head in a more entertaining way than just a typed page. Being able to drop it & pick it up again according to your schedule was very convenient. The sections are well thought out with the practice questions at the end of a module very helpful. I found this course quite easy to work through. I had never done an online course before but would be quite happy to again. It was very helpful to be able to do the various sections as and when I had time. I make notes as I went along but could never find either how to print them off or how to retrieve them the next time I was on the course. I enjoyed this online course as it was easy to use Virtual College and I was able to work at my own pace. I would have liked to be able to receive a certificate through the post with a 'more authentic look', but my manager was happy to accept the home printed version. (read more)
