Please do not make the same mistake I did and think that taking out holiday let owner insurance can allow you to sit back and relax as all is covered, even if it costs £450 per year.....A guest broke multiple items, including fridge, freezer, table, glasses etc and Towergate wanted £250 excess for each item, even the glasses.....This is after 10 plus phone calls. it causes more bother and anger than taking the "guest" to the small claims court, which is what I will have to do in the end... After an unsatisfactory settlement for a lost wedding ring - only 75% of replacement value, and this was my first claim - I tried to cancel the policy and switch to another insurer offering much better terms. We had a crisis on Christmas day, with sewage flooding our garden. No ability to contact the "365/24/7" emergency helpline. Eventually we got through in the New Year after multiple calls and e-mails. After 3 months consideration we were told that we should actually submit the claim to AXA as it was "a different part of your building and contents cover". AXA for their part say it should be dealt with by Towergate... and so it goes round and round and round. The optional domestic emergency... (read more)

Problems with Towergate Insurance Claim first lodged: 14th October 2010. Trying to report a water leak under the floorboards under my landlord insurance (an urgent matter which needed immediate response), I first tried to seek assistance. Despite holding on the phone for 40 minutes (and racking up a considerable bill whilst doing so) I could not get through to the insurance company. When I eventually did get to speak to someone, I had to call four different numbers, re-telling my entire... (read more)
