I have just had a phone call to renew from Towergate, the first call they made to me in 6 months since things went very very wrong. I insured a daf 95xf truck through these guys quote was NOT the cheapest but they assured me they act as agents for their customers not the insurance companies and are always ready to help. “Worst insurance provider!”

I took out CIA insurance which is underwritten by Towergate. I put in a claim and chased it 10 times over 6 weeks - i heard NOTHING - Their service was APPALLING beyond words - I took out landlords insurance and when I wanted to cancel after using them for 2 months, they said I would only get a £30 refund (from £150 initial payment)- which means they basically charge you for the entire year as a penalty for cancelling - its appalling - I am horrified I ever went wit them, they should be… Read Full Review

“Efficient fast service”

We have never claimed on house insurance before, but had to recently when I had a slight faux pas with a table top gel fire which (long story short) ended up with us having scorched flooring in our kitchen and dining area. Until I read the reviews I thought I was the only person having a truly dreadful time with Towergate/Allianz. “Totally incompetent claims handline”

Totally agree with all the other terrible reviews. Can't warn others enough not to touch this company with a bargepole. Claimed for storm damage to the roof on 23rd December. Still not repair authorised. Awful customer service, takes min 30 mins to get through, never get back to you. Must have had to chase them up at least 10 times before anything happened at all. Oh how I wish I had read these reviews before I insured with this appalling company - I sympathise with you, really I do, but I have waited six months, yes six months, to have a new kitchen sink fitted - as you can imagine with a family of 5 it is not easy emptying a bucket from under the sink some four times a day - I am persistent and am not going to fork out for this myself when I have already paid my premiums - I have sent a final email to their "customer service" team today and hereafter I am making a complaint to the Ombudsman. My six month wait has involved evasive and non-confirmatory telphone calls, no response to emails, a process of dithering, passing the buck and protraction of a very straight forward claim - I am actually pulling my hair out at this stage - NOTE TO OTHERS - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!

Hi, thank you so much for reading my moan and submitting a complaint too.. it made my day to hear that someone out there listens. i just wish you was Towergate, 'cos they certainly don't listen or take note. i'm quite used to companies fobbing me off but these guys could win awards for it. I hope all this bad publicity and bad reviews puts off other poor mugs and prevents others from falling for what i can only assume is a scheming insurance company. good luck with your sink and the ombudsman, i hope you eventually win! i just wish i had time to take my complaint further too. TOWERGATE are despicable, useless and totally unforgiving and i too wish i had read their reviews before paying my premiums. I hope too brokers are reading these reviews and take Towergate off their choice of underwriters/insurers or whatever they claim to be. maybe if enough people do this they will start being an insurance company and actually help people in need or more hopefully go bust. “Do not touch this company - horrendous”

I am currently insured with this awful company, i made a claim back in Nov 2013 and to date this is ongoing, it has been over 2 months. Storm damage on 1st January caused my roof to leak. I got an emergency repair from their subcontractors (Axa) but cannot get them to answer the phone to initiate the permanent repair. I've phoned every day for 8 days now. I'm left waiting on hold until my phone "times out" and cuts me off. The don't reply to emails either, or work on Saturdays. I work in in the insurance market (broker) most insurers have an escape of water excess of £250 I have worked in insurance for many years, even a long 16 month at towergate, they are worse to work for, long story short I wouldn't use them myself, due to claims service, as a broker I refuse to quote them to my customers as do my colleagues, top insurers AXA and legal and general

“Absolutely nightmare”

Due to unfortunate fire in the next door property a part of our loft was burnt, caused massive smoke damage in all rooms and cracked plaster on the adjacent walls. Be careful with LV, I thought they were good until it came to me making my first claim in 20 years. LV sent out an engineer to assess the damage on my car. It was only when I paid my excess and took my car home from the garage did I notice there was damage that still hadn't been put right. The LV engineer instructed the garage not to carry out those repairs and failed to notify me!
Cheap isn't always best :(

“Not worth the paper it is written on”

Please do not make the same mistake I did and think that taking out holiday let owner insurance can allow you to sit back and relax as all is covered, even if it costs £450 per year.....A guest broke multiple items, including fridge, freezer, table, glasses etc and Towergate wanted £250 excess for each item, even the glasses.....This is after 10 plus phone calls. it causes more bother and anger than taking the "guest" to the small claims court, which is what I will have to do in the end… Read Full Review
