After years of claim free insurance, with property values reviewed annually through face to face meeting with broker I suffered a loss. The NFU loss adjustor put in their own rubbish builder - between them they expanded the size of the claim exponentially. I had mitigated the loss and was planning to have my property back in use after 6 weeks. The builder appointed by NFU's agent had his own ideas. I'll be lucky to get it back 3 Yeats later. NFU failed to cover the loss of rent! They refused to answer calls, rejected complaints, ignored advice that their builder was increasing the size of the claim beyond reason. It seemed to me that the contractor and loss adjustor were in cahoots. I was proved right when I had to employ professional consultants to deal with the mess that NFU created.
I cannot recommend NFU to anyone, and as a member, I feel that we are being ripped off by the fat cat management. How can they justify such salaries and bonuses. It's time the members voted to oust Mr Sinclair and bring the NFU back to basics. It's supposed to be a MUTUAL - doesn't need to abuse it's members.
My settlement is far short of the loss or the value insured. I'm better off without NFU.

Ahh, Mr Sinclair, He should have been a politician, he assured me everything the ombudsman adjudicator has found wrong was perfectly correct and I was at fault. ( which incidentally was every single reason my claim was being reduced by the NFU/Crawfords ) . Strange though the way the marketing for this company works, many people who have not had the experience of a serious claim with the NFU defend them because they believe they are a good company... I hope they never have reason to make a big claim
