I took out a policy to incorporate a high value watch.
I was never asked to prove its value at the time of taking out the policy but was assured that it was covered in all aspects.
So what happens ?
Yes I lose it whilst abroad.
I make a claim, I have to wait 5 days for anyone to get back to me.
1 hour telephone conversation later my claim is declined???
I am told I have no provenance as I have not kept a receipt from 7 years ago.
WHO BLOODY DOES
I even took the watch with me when I took out the policy.
GUTTED !

Sorry to say, but almost all insurers will ask for proof of ownership and/or a recent valuation if you make a claim on something that they regard as a valuable.
