farceOur Hotpoint fridge freezer went faulty , the service engineer eventually came to repair it 10 days later, , then said he couldn't repair it and we would need a new one replaced under Domestic and General, we later received a TXT saying they would contact me within 48 hrs, In fact I had to phone them after 60 hrs. eventually finding the right department on what must be the worst phone system of any organisation, I spoke to a guy who said he was aware and they would replace the unit , but I had to pay £20 pounds delivery and I had to pay the remainder of the insurance contract , plus £9 pounds to collect the old one a total of over £100 pounds. When I queried the cost , he said the only way to ovoid was to continue paying the insurance for the new machine which has 1 year warranty and 10 years part guarantee, there is no point in paying a warranty insurance when its covered so I paid the amount asked for. The whole experience I now know was a complete farce, at every stage of phone conversation you are constantly asked to increase your insurance , its just a selling machine, No customer service whatsoever. I paid nearly £10 pound a month to insure the fridge freezer because I though we would get good quick service . You do not!!! I would sincerely recommend to everyone DO NOT DEAL with Domestic and General, put £10 pounds aside every month then when it breaks down call an engineer or replace it from your savings. Domestic and General should be reported to the insurance ombudsman , its sharp practice and does no Good for Hotpoint Indisite,s reputation, in fact in harms it . I will never ever deal with this organisation ever again and will not replace any appliance with a Hotpoint unit ever again. An in depth investigation should be carried out on this Domestic and General to expose the whole business so others may be aware of this sharp practice company. What an experience And they say they have a complaints department , when you complain you never hear from them again.
