I have been a customer of Domestic & General for a couple of years and have generally found them to be helpful and professional. However, that was until I needed a replacement product. I was advised that I would be receiving a like for like washing machine from a chosen supplier. I was disappointed as I had hoped to use my original local supplier, if he could match the price of course. But no I was not not permitted to do so. I also had to pay all costs with regard to delivery, disconnection, removal etc etc which I was also a little disappointed at. My main disappointment can when I was advised that the machine I was receiving was like for like, and the one I was initially advised of was. However this item was out of stock so I was offered an upgrade. As long as the alternative has everything my original machine had I said I was happy to go with it, so the order was placed. The machine was then delivered and installed and all seemed fine, afterall I was getting like for like plus an additional spin speed of 1400....nothing to complain about and all seemed fine! I was however not home when the machine was used for the first time so imagine my disappointment when I went to use the machine to find out that I no longer had a function which I regularly used on my previous machine, this being a dedicated spin function....now I had a 20 min rinse and spin but no dedicated spin. To many this may not be a problem but to me personally it was. I called D & G to be advised that it was too late to complain as the machine had been used. I did remind them that they had not delivered the like for like machine they had promised so I had assumed it was good to go. I also asked that they listen to conversation I had with one of their team as proof that I specifically said I am happy to upgrade if the new machine has all the functions of my old one. I have since been advised that they have listened to the call and are not disagreeing with me however because the machine has been used I have no come back. I am really really disappointed by their actions but more so by their behaviour and tone. I now have a machine I didn't want and there is apparently nothing I can do about it!!
