I purchased this product for the first time a couple of days ago, having used other brand name paint strippers in the past. I thought I'd give this one a try, as Polycell is a popular brand name. I was hugely disappointed and intend taking it back and requesting a full refund. It damaged the wood underneath and left tiny black mould like spotting on the wood. Definitely going back to the Wilko own brand paint stripper which is brilliant, but unfortunately was out of stock on the day. I wish I had checked out the reviews on line before purchasing. Don't waste your money on this product!

I tried this myself on a pine varnished chair what a mess all the other reviews are spot on I have only done one chair (thank god). I think that the Trading Standards need to know about this and that Polycell should compensate us all for the mess and extra work. my chair looks as though it is covered with plaster of paris but will not come off. I think the chair will have to go to the tip. There is no star rating for a minus score there should be. What is your company going to do to compensate your customers for their ruined items?

It is amazing people should make and sell such products. it's sheer trouble. I applied it to my garden bench, but could not get it off and had to chop up the bench and take it to the tip. I wish I could take polycell and the company I bought it from to the tip with it!!!! That is where they deserve to be.

This product deserves no stars it is simply THAT bad. I selected it to strip paint from metal. The nearly clay like substance is impossible to apply by brush and sticks to nothing but itself. Out of pure frustration I applied it using bare fingers to "clay" it in place. PolyCell; I want my money back and my fingerprints (removed layres of skin of my fingers)!!!

This is the most misnamed product I have ever tried to use. It is not mss free and it does not strip piant. In fact when it has been put on and left as specified it is almost impossible to remove. I eventually managed it with use of a paint scraper and a steam cleaner but still majority of the original paint remained. Please, please do not waste your money on this product.

I wish I had read these reviews before spending £12 on this product. I used it to strip a radiator and applied it exactly as the instructions said but my radiator finished up in a worse state than when I started! No paint came off at all and it was rock hard, so I went out and bought my old favourite Nitromours which has always worked for me in the past and after applying this I managed to get the Polycell stuff off along with the other paint I originally wanted to take off. All these reviews can't all be wrong. Don't buy this product - it's useless. It just goes to show that even with a reputable name like Polycell it still can't be trusted.

Complete waste of time and money. 'Just brush off with stiff brush'. What a joke! You are left with more mess and plenty of paint to remove either by sanding or hot gun. Avoid at all costs.

applied product as per instructions onto my radiator left it overnight to give it a good chance to work When I went to brush it off it would not budge and had to resort to a paint scraper and sandpaper despite this Ihave been left with a radiator which needs replacing as we could never get a proper surface to paint This product is total rubbish and would definitely never use it again or recomend it.

I'm a retired painter of almost 50 years experience I would always usually use nitromors but gave this a go, Do not buy this it just doses not work.

Bought this in preference to other paint removing product as we thought it would be less mess, odour and effort. How wrong we were. What a complete waste of money (the product isn't a cheap alternative) effort (requires more effort to remove the product than if I'd persevered with a piece of sandpaper) and as for the odour, as it takes so long to apply this product you are inhaling far more fumes. Will Polycell refund the money on this product? What about the hours spent removing it, are we going to get those back? Beware people this product is worthy of minus 5 stars. We're off out now to buy a product that actually works!!

Bought this yesterday as it was taking ages stripping about 10 layers of paint off my porch.Put product on and left overnight...Not 1 layer came off.Tried to brush and scape. loads of small flecks came off but that was it and I still have 10 layers of paint to remove and lots and lots of mess.Should be sent to trading standards-not worthy of even 1 star!!Wish i had read reviews before.

The worst DIY product I have ever bought. It does not work and left me with wood covered in white patches where the product has not come off. Thanks to this stripper I have wasted a lot of time and produced a lot of mess.

I brought two tubs of this product to remove paint off my front door. It did not result in any bubbling up of the paint as described on the instructions - it just dried into a white skin which could not be scrapped off even with another paint stripper! It caused me spending many hours handscrapping the product off resulting in a ton of white dust! No mess? this is a joke. And whats more no paint was removed off my door.

The is definitely the worst product I'ver ever baought I put it on balistrade 3 layers of paint it didn't shift the [paint never dried and remained like a yukky putty that was almost impossible to get off with scraper wire wool water anything it is incredibly messy and has made me much more work than I started with I am reporting it to trading standards it should be banned

This product ought to be banned from sale! The biggest joke is it's name "LESS MESS PAINT STRIPPER" I used the product on decking to remove some small spots of paint and left it overnight for maximum effect. The product was really thick and after several failed attempts with a wire brush and scraper had to resort to using a high pressure washer. Not only did it not work (only one coat of paint!) but it created a huge mess on ballustrades, windows, walls, plants, it even glued itself to my wellies! The natural 'knots' in the wood are now white and I cannot get this off at all! I paid £11.28 for a small tin and then had to spend so much time cleaning off the mess it made - I totally agree with the other posts here and I will be writing to ICI and trading standards, others should be warned. I have had to rate it one star but it should really not get any - Suggest changing name to MORE MESS! It's claim that it removes up to 15 layers of paint is a total misrepresentation.

At nearly £12.00 for a small tub, I bought two to remove paint from an easy to reach and strip stairway cladding. Applied it - left it on all night. After hours of trying to strip the paint (only a couple of layers)- gave up and went and bought a heat gun. Like others - I wish I had reviewed the product first. Absolute and total waste of money!
